Enhancing Cyberspace Monitoring In The United States Aviation Industry: A Multi-Layered Approach For Addressing Emerging Threats, Matthew Janson

Doctoral Dissertations and Master's Theses

This research project examined the cyberspace domain in the United States (U.S.) aviation industry from many different angles. The research involved learning about the U.S. aviation cyberspace environment, the landscape of cyber threats, new technologies like 5G and smart airports, cybersecurity frameworks and best practices, and the use of aviation cyberspace monitoring capabilities. The research looked at how vulnerable the aviation industry is from cyber-attacks, analyzed the possible effects of cyber-attacks on the industry, and suggests ways to improve the industry's cybersecurity posture. The project's main goal was to protect against possible cyber-attacks and make sure that the aviation industry …

Design Of Optical Compound Eye Simulation Software For Small Aircraft Applications, Qiming Qi, Ruigang Fu, Ping Wang, Min Wang, Hongqi Fan Sep 2022

Design Of Optical Compound Eye Simulation Software For Small Aircraft Applications, Qiming Qi, Ruigang Fu, Ping Wang, Min Wang, Hongqi Fan

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Optical compound eye has the advantages of large field of view, multiple viewing angles and high resolution. With another advantage that it can conformal combine with small aircraft, optical compound eye has application value in reconnaissance and surveillance, target detection, image navigation and other aspects. An optical compound eye simulation software for small aircraft is designed for the current situation of long development period of optical compound eye design and high cost of flight test in practical applications. The software integrates compound eye imaging, aircraft simulation and data management, and each functional module is extensible. The simulation results show …

Chimera Grid Methods Applied In Astronautics Aerodynamic Problems, Yuan Wu Jul 2020

Chimera Grid Methods Applied In Astronautics Aerodynamic Problems, Yuan Wu

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Structured chimera grid method has been considered as the most applicable technology to solve aerodynamic problems of multi-component configuration aircraft at current stage. Therefore, by using structured chimera technology and CFD method, two typical aerodynamic problems of conventional tactics missile configuration with rudder deflection were thoroughly investigated: i) a simple and practical linear modification model for micro unsymmetry configuration was proposed which could effectively reduce the range of error and eliminate its skewness properties caused by asymmetric separation vortex, while the traditional method introduced lateral aerodynamic error in data transformation; ii) 3-tunnel linear adding model was investigated and the …

Low-Cost Hardware-In-The-Loop Flight Simulation System, Chuanyan Tian, Junzhao Hu, Jikui Liu, Qianlong Yang Dec 2019

Low-Cost Hardware-In-The-Loop Flight Simulation System, Chuanyan Tian, Junzhao Hu, Jikui Liu, Qianlong Yang

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Hardware-in-the-loop simulation is an effective way and experimental method to evaluate and verify the performance of the aircraft system. To satisfy the requirements of real-time, scalability, high reliability simulation of a certain aircraft control system, a new design of low-cost hardware-in-the-loop real-time scene simulation system consisted of IPC, DSP, three-axis turntable, steering engine and visual simulation computer was put forward. Real-time simulation system software composed by flight control simulation module, aircraft movement simulation module and scene simulation module was implemented, and it resolved the difficulties in real-time, data synchronization, multiple node communication of simulation system. Comparison with …

Relevance Analysis Of Deicing Parameters And Deicing Efficiency Of Aircraft Ground, Bin Chen, Liwen Wang Jan 2019

Relevance Analysis Of Deicing Parameters And Deicing Efficiency Of Aircraft Ground, Bin Chen, Liwen Wang

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Aircraft ground freezing could lead to potential danger and delay for flight. To alleviate these problems, the main method is to use the deicing fluids to clean ice or snow on the aircraft body, which lacks of reference of the deicing fluids parameters and efficiency. To study the effect of the deicing fluids parameters on the aircraft deicing efficiency, the deicing mechanism is analyzed. The black box mathematical model of the deicing process is generalized abstractly. The deicing process is divided into two subprocesses to establish the deicing model. The relevance between the deicing fluids parameters and deicing efficiency is studied …
