Design, Testing, And Calibration Of A Custom Air Data Boom To Obtain Flight Data For The Utsi Cessna-T210j (N33ut), Kristopher Nathaniel Oegema

Masters Theses

Flight testing is dependent on the ability to accurately calculate the flight characteristics of an aircraft during a test. Any error caused by an instrument will grow into potentially larger errors or unacceptable ranges of uncertainty for any flight test calculations. The aircrafts pitot static system is designed to minimize the error in readings caused by the pressure changes resulting in air flying around the aircrafts structure. However, it still does not meet the level of accuracy desired for quality flight testing data. In order to get the most accurate data possible noncommercial equipment is installed on the aircraft for …

Development Of A Force And Airspeed Data Acquisition System For The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 30x40 In. Subsonic Wind Tunnel, Toon Hong Foo Apr 2003

Development Of A Force And Airspeed Data Acquisition System For The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 30x40 In. Subsonic Wind Tunnel, Toon Hong Foo

Master's Theses - Daytona Beach

The very first objective of performing most experiments is collecting numerical data. Values can be read from instruments or gauges by eye and recorded by hand. However, in certain experiments the amount of data collected may become so large that a human alone can not observe and record the data fast enough. This is where a data acquisition system comes into play. A data acquisition system is a network of devices that collects data from instruments and outputs it to hard copies or storage devices. A data acquisition system can also control instruments to take the data at the exact …

Research And Design Of A High L/D Aircraft, Blake Ashby, Gregory Nielson May 1998

Research And Design Of A High L/D Aircraft, Blake Ashby, Gregory Nielson

Undergraduate Honors Capstone Projects

This senior design team, consisting of Blake Ashby, Shelly Barlow, Greg Nielson, Deryl Snyder, and Chris Wright, designed, built, and flew an airplane that met the requirements of the Cessna/ONR Student Design/Build/Fly Competition sponsored by AIAA. This radio-controlled airplane was designed to fly the most laps around a course in seven minutes using only 2.5 pounds of NiCad batteries. A total of three senior design teams from Utah State University designed separate airplanes. Though all three teams designed, built, and tested complete airplanes, each emphasized a different aspect of a successful entry. This team emphasized theoretical and numerical analysis in …
