Q2S Enhancing Pedagogy
The Community of Practice Q2S Enhancing Pedagogy where I participated focused on “Supporting and Mentoring Teacher Candidates during Teaching Performance Assessment”. This CP discussed and shared information on best pedagogical practices for teaching, supporting, and mentoring preservice teachers as they engage in identifying students with specific academic needs before planning, delivering, assessing and reflecting on tasks required by the state-mandated assessment (CalTPA). This test is required for certification. My contributions to this CP resulted in this reflection/handout. The most salient topics were Implementing Effective Instruction, which means being able to know and apply Standards-based Instruction, SDAIE methods, Lesson Planning, …

Q2S Enhancing Pedagogy
The Math 30x Quarter Bridge courses have been designed to bridge the gap created in curriculum, as CSUSB transitions from quarters to semesters. The four course series will soon be a three course series, with the fourth course embedded in the other three. These classes will now incorporate reading, problem solving and reflection assignments from Powerful Problem Solving by Max Ray and Thinking Around the Box by Davida Fischman and Shawnee McMurran. These classes will also serve as a model for the Fall semester courses. The following outlines the Group Projects to be incorporated into the Quarter Bridge and Semester …

Q2S Enhancing Pedagogy
I have revised my syllabus to integrate PBL into my course, Science/Health Curriculum and Pedagogy in Elementary School (EELB 532), for this current term. I am teaching this course for the third year at the Palm Desert campus. Throughout my career as an instructor in teacher education, I have promoted PBL to my science methods students; however, this term is the first time I have integrated PBL into my course by making it a major course assignment.

Q2S Enhancing Pedagogy
SCIPP redefines and expands the existing notions about what makes for a vibrant and robust community of practice by partnering CSUSB students and professors with K-12 students, parents, and educators, along with committed community partners. SCIPP encourages curiosity in ways that leads to critical thinking, exploration, "risk taking", confidence building, open-mindedness, and other personal traits that equip them with the softskills to be active, critical, and creative contributors to our communities. SCIPP pedagogy embraces our students' collective wisdom and focuses on relational building where multi-directional communication is promoted and students are viewed as equal stakeholders in their own educations. SCIPP …
