The project provides high school teachers with a handbook to aid their effort in teaching summarization skills and MLA citation format. Because research articles have become easier to obtain over the internet, plagiarism among high school students has evolved and become a problem in American high schools. This handbook is not only a resource for teachers to utilize in their lesson plans, but provides various opportunities for students to practice key writing and research documentation skills.

The purpose of this project was to develop and design a model, secondary-level curriculum for a Teaching Academy program. To accomplish this purpose, a review of current literature related to Teaching Academies was conducted. Related information from selected schools, school districts, and private organizations was obtained and analyzed. Additionally the investigator, Michelle M. Bryant, attended training sessions and conferences hosted by the Teachers Recruiting Future Teachers.

The purpose of the project was to design and develop a model applied mathematics curriculum for Taiwanese-Canadian extension school students, in grades ten through twelve in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. To accomplish this purpose, a review of current research and literature regarding curriculum and instruction related to applied mathematics was conducted. Additionally, related information from selected schools with applied mathematics programs in Taiwan, Canada, and the United States of America, was obtained and analyzed. A handsearch of various other sources was also conducted.

New innovations in scheduling at the secondary level in many high schools have resulted in "block scheduling", whereby, students meet in classes for a longer time period than the norm (50-55 minutes). In the area of performing arts, this expanded schedule presents new opportunities for the inclusion of musicianship skills. This study will provide guidelines and resources for strengthening the musicianship of students currently participating in block scheduling within their performance classes. The exercises and lessons included will reflect the guidelines of the National Standards for the Arts.

Much has been done since World War II to propagate and develop instructional aids for general education. Many of these have been specifically designed to fit the industrial arts areas. However, some industrial arts instructors seem unaware of the possibilities inherent in instructional aids. This paper, then, is an attempt to (1) describe and evaluate several specific teaching aids and (2) use these examples to show some possible roles of teaching aids in industrial arts.

Electronics is now being taught in the Highline District in one course for one year in each of the four high schools. There are no formal district objectives tor this course, no sequence of instruction, no list of course content. The writer has felt the need for the above and has interviewed all four instructors in the district and the assistant superintendent of instruction. A survey of social studies in the state courses of study was undertaken in an attempt to determine the comparative emphasis given to certain subject-matter areas within the scope of the social studies. Findings of the survey in the elementary field were reported in the February, 1939, issue of this magazine (page 124). Findings in the secondary-schools division are here presented.
