Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh pendekatan problem posing dan pendekatan problem-based learning; dan untuk mengetahui mana yang lebih baik antara pendekatan problem posing dan pendekatan problem-based learning ditinjau dari prestasi belajar, dan motivasi belajar mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika FKIP Universitas Dayanu Ikhsanuddin Baubau. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu dengan desain pretest-posttest non-equivalent comparison-group design. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh mahasiswa pendidikan matematika Universitas Dayanu Ikhsanuddin Baubau yang mengambil mata kuliah Kalkulus II. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika bercirikan problem-based learning (PBL) yang valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk mengembangkan higher order thinking skills (HOTS) siswa SMA kelas X semester 2 berupa: rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP) dan lembar kegiatan siswa (LKS) yang dilengkapi instrumen tes hasil belajar. Penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D dari Thiagarajan dengan empat tahapan, yaitu: pendefinisian, perancangan, pengembangan, dan penyebaran. For many students in engineering and engineering technology programs in the US, senior capstone design courses require students to form a team, define a problem, and find a feasible technical solution to address this problem. Students must integrate the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies at the college or university level. These truly integrative design activities do not have a single “correct” solution. Instead, there is an array of solutions, many of which could be used to achieve the final result. This ambiguity can cause students to experience anxiety during the projects.

Epistemic beliefs are individuals’ beliefs about the nature of knowledge, how knowledge is constructed, and how knowledge can be justified. This study employed a mixed-methods approach to examine: (a) middle and high school students’ self-reported epistemic beliefs (quantitative) and epistemic beliefs revealed from practice (qualitative) during a problem-based, scientific inquiry unit, (b) How do middle and high school students’ epistemic beliefs contribute to the construction of students’ problem solving processes, and (c) how and why do students’ epistemic beliefs change by engaging in PBL.
