Improvement Of Pedagogical Laboratory Based Learning: Multimedia Enhanced Instructional Methods, Sumbul Khan Dec 2013

Improvement Of Pedagogical Laboratory Based Learning: Multimedia Enhanced Instructional Methods, Sumbul Khan

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

In engineering technology and other scientific-based education, lab-based courses play a crucial role (Ma & Nickerson, 2006). Even though laboratory experience in student learning is crucial, it faces some problems. Due to insufficient laboratory conditions that lead to overcrowding and inability to view demonstrations, the effectiveness of hands on experience declines (Tiwari & Singh, 2011; Tuysuz, 2010). Considering the limitations that constrain lab experience, investigating and implementing alternatives to enhance pedagogical laboratory based learning becomes inevitable. This study investigates multimedia enhanced pedagogical teaching methods for delivering laboratory instruction to students. The purpose of this study was to improve pedagogical laboratory …

Science And Social Studies: The Forgotten Content, Samantha Slaughter

Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects

Abstract The daily curriculum of many elementary schools lacks instructional time in the content areas of science and social studies. Many teachers insist that they do not have the time or training to cover these content areas on a daily basis. This project will illustrate that through proper planning, integration, and professional development, teachers can feel empowered to teach these content areas. The project includes a succinct explanation of how science and social studies can be included on a daily basis in the regular classroom setting, a detailed curriculum map, daily schedule, and four basic integrated units. The curriculum map …

A study of survey results indicated that a Title I Math pull-out program served by a teacher in groups of less than ten students …

An Experimental Study Of The Effects Of Required Homework Review Versus Review On Request Upon Achievement, Dolores Dick Jul 1980

An Experimental Study Of The Effects Of Required Homework Review Versus Review On Request Upon Achievement, Dolores Dick

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

During the 1979-80 school year, two Algebra I classes were involved in a study to test the effects of two methods for reviewing homework problems on students' achievements and attitudes. One review procedure was to solve and explain each problem during the class period that followed the class period in which the homework assignment had been made. The other procedure involved solving and explaining only the problems that students requested to have reviewed. While one procedure was being used with one class, the other procedure was being used with the comparison class. One treatment procedure was used with a class …

The Value Of High School Physics To The College Student, Emery White Aug 1936

The Value Of High School Physics To The College Student, Emery White

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

Secondary school science consists of biology, chemistry, physics, or a combination course known as general science. General science deals only with the practical side of the laws of physics. It fails to go into detail and very often omits the law entirely. Physics in high school requires a special room in the building which is not easily adapted to other use. A large amount of expensive equipment is need to teach it efficiently. Can all of this expense be justified? Is the student who ends his school career with high school graduation sent out into life with a large amount …

Is High School Chemistry A Preparation For College Chemistry, Mansfield Martin Jun 1932

Is High School Chemistry A Preparation For College Chemistry, Mansfield Martin

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The subject of this study grew out of a desire to estimate the value of high school chemistry and its relation to college chemistry. The purpose is to bring about a better understanding of the necessity of a closer tie-up between different levels of our educational system. Life and growth are continuous processes, and, if education if life, we must make it a continuous experience. While limited because of incomplete records and changing classifications of our high schools, it is hoped that this study will lead to a further and more scientific study of related problems in this field.
