This project was the development of a trail guide with background information about plants and animals commonly found at the Grassy Hollow Visitor Center, located in the San Gabriel Mountains in California. The guide is intended to enable volunteers to utilize the educational opportunities available at this location with kindergarten through second grade students.

A trail guide was developed for the trail up Mt. Baden-Powell to Lamel Spring, a popular hiking trail in the San Gabriel mountains of Southern, California. The guide encourages hikers to take care of the area while enjoying it and and awareness and appreciation of the environment that surrounds them on this trail.

In response to the aftermath of the Old Fire in San Bernardino County in 2003, the author took her personal experiences and developed a project for the school where she teaches fourth grade called "heArts for the Forest". The goal of the project was to heighten students' awareness and sense of responsibility in regard to their place in the local world as well as the global environment.
