Online classrooms offer a variety of resources, but they also present some challenges such as students feeling bored and disengaged from learning activities. Teachers are an important key in implementing distance learning during the pandemic, it is necessary to explore teacher perceptions in the use of distance learning technology. Questionnaire data were collected from 363 mathematics teachers in Indonesia. Furthermore, 8 mathematics teachers were interviewed using zoom and in person. The results of this study are mathematics teachers consider that distance education technology to be easy and useful during the pandemic. In addition, math teachers intend to continue using educational technology after the pandemic ends. Learning on and through social media is becoming a cornerstone of lifelong learning, creating places not only for accessing information, but also for finding other self-motivated learners. Such is the case for Reddit, the online news sharing site that is also a forum for asking and answering questions. We studied learning practices found in ‘Ask’ subreddits AskScience, Ask_Politics, AskAcademia, and AskHistorians to develop a coding schema for informal learning. With these changes, there is a shift in responsibilities from the course designer to motivated and self-directed learner-participants.
