A piece created by a future teacher for future teachers, this presentation is based upon an article written to submit to the annual journal published by the Assembly for the Teaching of English Grammar. Intended to foster ideas to create a multisensory approach to grammar instruction, this presentation offers three recommendations for future teachers to consider: make grammar instruction personal, adaptable, and inquiry-focused. This presentation will detail each recommendation with evidence from research and personal experiences.

Research- based practice in the teaching profession has had a growing importance over the past few decades. While the field of neurocognitive literacy is infantile, researchers have begun looking at how instruction can be impacted by understanding brain capabilities when learning to become literate in a language. This has been accomplished through neuroimaging to explain how a child’s brain functions on a neurological level when engaging in literacy tasks.
