Academic Discipleship: A Perspectival Clarification Of “Christian Education” For Teacher Leaders And Administrators, Kelly N. Hayes
Education Insights: Journal of Research and Practice
Christian education is distinct, but school leaders are not always aware of, or may not agree on, what makes it so. The term, Christian education, is ubiquitous, but is not precise. Christian educators require clear, rich language that can be used to effectively communicate the specific norms, operations, and aims of their work. Through the use of John Frame’s triperspectival methodology, this article provides a focused epistemological, metaphysical, and axiological analysis of the unique nature of Christian education with the aim of producing clarifying terminology. Observing Christian education’s distinctives from multiple, specific perspectives allows educators to better define and describe …

The Cost And Value Of Your Education, T. Perry Hildreth
The Cost And Value Of Your Education, T. Perry Hildreth
Journal of Counseling and Psychology
This brief address explores the issue of the dominance of the economical way of valuing education over a more traditional idea of education as moral formation. An education in a Christian liberal arts university uniquely gives priority to the idea that education should shape the student's moral understanding and consequent actions. The address is an invitation to consider how one, professionally and personally, might serve members of a culture shaped largely by the idea that human meaning and purpose are reducible to economic value as merely producers and consumers.
Flipped Classrooms In The Humanities: Findings From A Quasi-Experimental Study, Bryce F. Hantla
Flipped Classrooms In The Humanities: Findings From A Quasi-Experimental Study, Bryce F. Hantla
Christian Perspectives in Education
This quasi-experimental study explored the effects of flipping the classroom on perceptions of students in humanities settings. This control-matched study examined the effects of the flipped classroom on seven subscales from a satisfaction inventory. Out of 130 students, n = 62 (47.7%) completed the study. Flipped classes reported a more ideal classroom environment on Innovation and Individualization (p < .001). Additionally, flipping provides instructors more time to focus on deeper learning strategies than traditional courses.

Measuring Christian Education Against National And State Standards: A Review Of The Literature, Beth Gordy Waddell

There are two kinds of standards, content standards and performance standards. Content standards indicate what a student should know and be able to do. Performance standards incorporate content standards, but are expanded to include suggested tasks, sample student work, and teacher commentary on that work (Georgia Department of Education, 2004). According to Robert J. Marzano, a Senior Fellow at the Mid-Continent Research for …
