Queer and trans* students can face many struggles within higher education, including individual and institutional discriminatory practices. Higher education’s housing and residence life can perpetuate a heteronormative environment through gender-segregated residence halls. Research indicates gender-inclusive housing can provide gender-appropriate accommodation for queer and trans* students. However, colleges and universities do not center the voices and experiences of queer and trans* students in creating and assessing gender-inclusive housing, creating additional logistical obstacles to accessing and retaining in housing and residence life. Religion and worldview development is often ignored within higher education. Whether inside of the classroom or in initiatives towards diversity, equity, and inclusion, religions and worldviews are kept out. This project looks at why this is the case and uses the Interfaith Triangle as a theoretical framework to provide a possible solution to this problem. This project was completed in three chapters. The first provides an introduction into why religion and worldview identity development are left out of higher education and how this project will address the issue.
