The major hypothesis of this study was that the overall instructional materials program of the Yakima Public Schools had many weaknesses that could be identified by comparing the program with accepted evaluative criteria. Upon identification of these weaknesses, suggestions for improvement will be made.

The purpose of this study is (1) to consider and identify the problems related to establishing an effective audio-visual program; (2) to establish the audio-visual requirements for students and teachers; (3) to define the duties and responsibilities of a building audio-visual coordinator; and (4) to develop a specific program for administering audio-visual equipment and materials in Lewis and Clark Junior High School.
