The abstract of your research paper is very important. Its purpose is not only to concisely summarize your work, but also to grab the reader’s attention and convince them that your research is valuable and relevant. An unclear abstract can set the stage for confusion, whereas a polished abstract prepares the reader by telling them what to expect from your paper.
This workshop will show you how to perfect your abstract (with an emphasis on the UMaine Student Symposium’s guidelines). We will begin with an overview of abstract-writing tips, followed by group activities for practice.

UNLV Best Teaching Practices Expo
A full college semester, like any long-term project, benefits from periodic reflection, and reconfiguration to make it to completion successfully. This is the thinking behind creating a mid-semester reset framework for first-semester students aligned with lessons on health and wellness. Students asked to reflect on themselves personally, each class during the semester and create an actionable plan was useful in helping to find their power, remember and reconfigure their motivations and see what they're doing right and well as what they can improve.

Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) is a teacher’s use of strategies that creates an inclusive classroom. CRT is important because culture affects learning and behavior; if teachers have a basic understanding of different cultures, they will be more equipped to create and foster community in the classroom, thus making space for students to celebrate their cultures and feel a sense of belonging. This mixed methods pilot study examined self-efficacy and confidence of preservice educators and inservice educators regarding Culturally Responsive Teaching and Instruction. Quantitative data were comprised of a survey, Culturally Responsive Teaching Self-Efficacy Scale, used with permission from Siwatu (2007), …

The quantitative research portion included a small sample of preservice teacher classroom behavior management plans that were analyzed for the use of trauma informed indicators. The qualitative portion included clinical instructor interviews that …

Universal Design For Learning’S Successful Implementation: What Can Administrators Do?, Monica Grillo
Graduate Research Posters
Administrators have a unique position to influence teacher attitudes by creating an inclusive school culture and providing instructional leadership. Implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a critical issue for public schools in our country. UDL is an inclusive framework based on the science of learning. It supports and removes barriers to learning for all students while maintaining high expectations. Federal education policies have called for inclusive instruction based on UDL principles. Nevertheless, our educators and administrators are not sure they believe in it and do not know what exactly it is or how to implement it with fidelity. Previous …
