The paper analyzes the main approaches to the use of sports in the system of school physical education. The most important objectives of sport activities in primary school are to familiarize the children who are 6-7 years old with the varieties of sports and exercises, and to lay the foundations of proper technique. This study investigates the impact, both proximal and distal, of inter-scholastic sports participation on the academic experiences of Latino male high school students. I utilize the notion of imbrication and a nested ecological framework to interrogate these larger constructs to illuminate differences and commonalities that exist amongst and between Latinos, the type of sport played, and three forms of engagement (cognitive, behavioral, and emotional).

Beacons Academy is a collaboration between UMass Boston Athletics, Codman Academy, Dorchester YMCA and the Walter Denney Youth Center to expose students in our local community to sports they may or may not have played through instructional sessions with our intercollegiate coaches and athletes. Mr. Hamlin is a local (Huntington, WV) attorney who is an alumnus of Marshall University. Mr. Hamlin was the quarterback of the 1964 Marshall University football team and has been a long-time supporter of the football and athletic programs at Marshall. Following the expulsion of the University from the Mid-American Conference and the plane crash of 1971, Mr. Hamlin became actively involved in trying to convince the University's administration to seek membership in the Southern Conference.

The purpose of this project was to explore existing standard operating procedures of athletic leagues from around the State of Washington and to develop a Standard Operating Procedures Manual for use by the South Central "A" League of District IV of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association. The results showed that although all leagues are required to have such a manual, the governing body of high school athletics, Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (W.I.A.A.), recommended that only five league handbooks be used as models toward the development of this project.
