Success in music depends on a number of crucial factors with musical talent figuring prominently in gifted research. However, in the Nuremberg Music-Ecological Approach presented in this paper a different view is taken. Instead of talents and factors, the concept of available resources in an individual´s actiotope (Ziegler, 2005) is put in the center of our analysis. Educational Capital refers to exogenous resources and comprises five different forms of resources: Economic Educational Capital, Cultural Educational Capital, Social Educational Capital, Infrastructural Educational Capital and Didactic Educational Capital. This chapter draws on research that has explored the use of digital technologies in the context of examination-based assessment in senior secondary physical education in Western Australia (Wa). It discusses the potential that digital technologies present to enhance pedagogy in senior physical education teaching and extends learning opportunities in the subject. Pedagogical innovation is particularly considered in relation to linkages between traditioally distinct 'theory' and 'practical' course components and the 'personalization' of learning that is associated with the use of digital technologies. A Comparison Of Temporal Speech And Text Cueing In Educational Multimedia, Christopher Newhouse, Jeremy Pagram, Alistair Campbell, Bruce Mann, H Schultz

This research focused on the prediction that children in their school setting would learn more from educational multimedia when critical information was presented as spoken instead of textual cues. Analyses of a study (n = 42) showed that 12-year-olds did not learn any more from temporal speech cueing than from temporal text cueing. The findings suggest that multimedia learning for children is a different kind of learning experience than for adults or older adolescents. The results indicate underdeveloped executive control of the referential connections in the children's working memory between reading screen text while listening to spoken cues, and between …

New rules threaten to increase the legal liability of IPO sponsors in Hong Kong. What effect will the new rules have the IPO market in Hong Kong --- and the sponsors who prepare the new issue? We argue that the new rules -- rather than hindering the IPO market -- promise to deepen it. We review (for the lay-person) the relevant law, previoius econometric studies in the area, and provide conclusions.

A Tanzanian higher education institution (Institute of Finance Management) and an Irish higher education institutio (Dublin Institute of Technology) have worked in partnership to develop the final stage of a Computer Science programme to meet the specific needs of the Tanzanian Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. The designed stage sits above three stages of a programme designed for the Irish ICT sector which was transplanted to the Tanzanian context. One of the primary goals of educating in economics and management (E&M) is to teach students to think for themselves rather than repeat text-book theories. Drawing upon my own teaching experiences, I will discuss a framework for tutorial-based teaching of applied E&M thinking. The paper discusses results to date from the use of this framework as well as lessons learned which might be applicable to a range of University and non-University based programmes teaching skills in economics and management.
