Examining The Influence Of Household Factors On Educational Achievement Inequality: An Analysis Of Aser Data In Pakistan, Gul Muhammad Rind
CBER Conference
Inequity in education is the worldwide accepted challenge that hinders achieving sustainable development goals. In Pakistan educational inequality is higher because of widening socioeconomic and family factors, and disparity in the types of schools. This study is aimed to respond to the research questions; what can be revealed about the contribution of family socioeconomic conditions and household characteristics toward the children’s inequitable achievement in Pakistan? And what are the contributions of private schools and paid tuition in creating inequality in learning achievement?

Technological And Pedagogical Challenges For Teachers During Covid-19, Suzanne Reaid
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractImplementation of a national contingency plan to mitigate the effects of a natural disaster or major health crisis for schools in the United States has been a focus of scholars since the polio epidemic in 1916. Bhutanese Refugee Students: Their Perceptions Of High School And Challenges Of Accessing A Four-Year College Degree In The U.S., Hemant Tamang Ghising
Graduate College Dissertations and Theses
The recent trend of refugee resettlement in the U.S. has presumably shifted to a new and more hopeful life for refugees. However, refugees experience another phase of challenges once they resettle in the U.S. Their transition from a life of statelessness to that of the citizen in a developed country is a painful experience, yet life has improved economically, especially after years of living in poverty in a refugee camp. The fact that Bhutanese refugee parents choose to resettle in the U.S. is primarily motivated by their hopes for a better education for their children. The following qualitative research study …
Wearing Makeup Is Not An Indicator Of Being Anti-Feminist, Kim Crowley
Wearing Makeup Is Not An Indicator Of Being Anti-Feminist, Kim Crowley
Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Modern feminist discourse has struggled with a certain dilemma: the paradoxes of makeup and fashion. These two topics pose questions from both viewpoints. One may ask: are we meant to support makeup as an industry and hobby, to take pride in our skillfully groomed brows and pretty dresses that make us feel more beautiful? Or are our cultural notions of beauty something to fight against--another means of control, forcing us to force more on appearances than we should?

Umaine Study Examines Dilemma Of Weighted Grades, Kay Hyatt
General University of Maine Publications
The value assigned to an “A” varies in high schools throughout Maine and nationally, and as college admissions and scholarships based on class rank raise the stakes, administrators are scrambling to devise rigorous, equitable grading systems. About half the nation's school systems assign weighted grades, allowing more points for high grades in Advanced Placement or other accelerated courses than for the same grades in less demanding classes, according to a new study from the University of Maine. But with no state or national standards to guide high schools that weight grades or to clarify their meaning to college admissions officers, …
