Exploring Hybrid Learning: Enhancing Access To Health And Safety Education At Worksafehealth, Tiana M. Larocque

The Dissertation in Practice at Western University

WorkSafeHealth, a not-for-profit health and safety association in the province of Ontario, is mandated by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development to provide training and consultation services to client firm trainees across the province. Despite the efforts of WorkSafeHealth personnel to provide timely access to health and safety education, the vast regional expanse in which WorkSafeHealth provides these services hinders consultant-trainers’ abilities to furnish training to Ontario workers who must be equipped with this critical information to work safely in their respective industries. Therefore, current operational service delivery methods must change to support WorkSafeHealth personnel’s fulfillment of …

Journal of Public Affairs and Development

The importance of access to and the proper utilization of technology in improving farm productivity is widely recognized. For this reason, many interventions focus on the development and promotion of farm technologies in rural areas. Sariaya, Quezon is one of the recipients of the programs of the Department of Agriculture (DA), particularly the Bayanihan Agri Clusters (BACs), the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF), and the Rice Business Innovations Community Program (RiceBIS). While these programs are being implemented, the adoption of certified seeds technology in the community remains low. Developing A Competency Model For Highway Safety Engineers: A Delphi Method, Garrett K. Wheat

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

The primary purpose of this study was to determine the core competencies needed by State DOT Highway Safety Engineers as perceived by Highway Safety experts in the United States. First, a list of competencies was identified. Next, a panel of Highway Safety experts determined the importance of each identified competency for the current year (2020) and for the future (year 2030). Finally, ratings provided by the panel were tested for the presence of consensus.

For this study, the researcher used a Delphi Method as classified by Delbecq, Van de Ven, and Gaustafson (1975). Through this method, a panel of forward-thinking …

Best Practices For Leading A Transition To Standards-Based Grading In Secondary Schools, Alexander Bruce Carter Jan 2016

Best Practices For Leading A Transition To Standards-Based Grading In Secondary Schools, Alexander Bruce Carter

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Educational policy researchers have concluded that if U.S. schools transition from the traditional model of grading and reporting to a uniform standards-based grading and reporting model, students would benefit academically. However, very few middle and high schools in the United States have made the transition to standards-based grading. This qualitative research study was designed address the role of leadership in change by identifying a set of best leadership practices to guide school principals in leading such a transition. The conceptual framework was Kotter's change model. A national sample of 7 middle and 5 high school principals from 8 states who …

Future Critical Issues And Problems Facing Technology And Engineering Education In The Commonwealth Of Virginia, Petros Katsioloudis, Johnny J. Moye

STEMPS Faculty Publications

The purpose of this research was to determine the future critical issues and problems facing the K-12 technology and engineering education profession in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This study was based on the Wicklein nationwide studies (1993a, 2005). Even though this study did not exactly replicate the Wicklein studies--since it was limited to the Commonwealth of Virginia--the method and questions used were identical. The modified Delphi research design was used to draw consensus among technology and engineering education experts in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Seventy-five percent of the participants agreed with one another concerning the top five critical problems and …

A New Generation Of Goals For Technology Education, John M. Ritz

STEMPS Faculty Publications

[Introduction, First paragraph]

To develop meaningful instructional programs for technology education, goals need to be in place to direct the outcomes of curriculum development and teaching. Goals are program terminal outcomes that focus curriculum writers or teachers who structure content for learners. Goals provide direction so content can be delivered for long-term impact to students who study the subject. They go beyond everyday teaching objectives; they are directed at long-term learning and programmatic outcomes.

Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences Faculty Publications

This study explores the competencies required for a project manager to be effective in the workplace. We used a Web-based Delphi method to lead experienced project managers through an anonymous consensus-building process consisting of two rounds of surveys. The Round I analysis of 147 respondents, all with 20 or more years of project management experience, yielded 117 project management success factors, 78 of which were identified as “trainable” competencies. The Round II analysis confirmed 42 of the 78 competencies (53.8%) as “very important” to “extremely important” to project manager success. Important contributions of this study include: (a) reporting on project …

The Delphi Technique : An Application Of The Delphi Technique As A Method Of Obtaining Staff Opinions On Issues Relating To Teaching Practice At Nedlands College Of Advanced Education, M. Kaplan

Research outputs pre 2011

As one approach to gathering information required in compiling a report on Teaching Practice, Supervision Advice and Assessment (Published as Research Committee Report Number 12), use was made of the Delphi Technique. (Kaplan, 1980).

Space precluded providing details of this technique in Report Number 12 but since the technique is not often used, it was decided to provide information on its application in the study in this separate report.
