Mental Enlightenment Scientific-Methodological Journal
Following work is dedicated to the use of information computer technologies in the process of learning English gives students the opportunity to use their knowledge in competitions, Olympiads, quizzes and tests that are held online on the Internet, to take part in various video conferences and communicate with foreign-speaking peers. Students can get all kinds of information about the problem they are studying, which they can learn from literature, world news, articles from newspapers and magazines, as well as linguistic and cultural materials and similar sources. The deepening of the previously acquired knowledge can be carried out through both standard …
The Design Of An Undergraduate Degree Program In Computer & Digital Forensics, Gary C. Kessler, Michael E. Schirling
The Design Of An Undergraduate Degree Program In Computer & Digital Forensics, Gary C. Kessler, Michael E. Schirling
Gary C. Kessler
"Champlain College formally started an undergraduate degree program in Computer & Digital Forensics in 2003. The underlying goals were that the program be multidisciplinary, bringing together the law, computer technology, and the basics of digital investigations; would be available as on online and oncampus offering; and would have a process-oriented focus. Success of this program has largely been due to working closely with practitioners, maintaining activity in events related to both industry and academia, and flexibility to respond to ever-changing needs. This paper provides an overview of how this program was conceived, developed, and implemented; its evolution over time; and …

Gender Differences In College Students’ Perceptions Of Technology-Related Jobs In Computer Science, Joseph Appianing, Richard Van Eck
Gender Differences In College Students’ Perceptions Of Technology-Related Jobs In Computer Science, Joseph Appianing, Richard Van Eck
Teaching, Leadership & Professional Practice Faculty Publications
Demand for computer technology (CT) professionals continues to rise, yet the supply of related majors is insufficient to meet demand. As with science, engineering, and mathematics (technology’s STEM field siblings), women’s participation in CT fields is abysmally low. While there are many junctures in the “leaky pipeline” for women and STEM careers, college is one of the important pathways to recruit women into CT fields. Wigfield and Eccles’ (2000) expectancy-value theory of achievement motivation provides a valuable framework for examining factors that impact women’s decisions to pursue CT majors, but no validated survey instruments exist for doing so. A questionnaire …

Integration Of Computers And Related Technologies Into Deaf Education Teacher Preparation Programs, Len Roberson
Integration Of Computers And Related Technologies Into Deaf Education Teacher Preparation Programs, Len Roberson
Len Roberson
The study examined how computer technology is used, modeled, and taught in programs that prepare future teachers of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Data were collected through two self-reported survey instruments sent to participants from two different groups: (a) deaf education faculty (n = 233) and (b) administrators of programs serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing (n = 100). Among the faculty who responded to the survey, 99% said they used computers and printers for instruction during class, 84% said they used VCRs for instruction during class, and 56% said they used video cameras …
The Effects Of Digital Technology On Basic Writing, Leslie Denise Norris
The Effects Of Digital Technology On Basic Writing, Leslie Denise Norris
English Theses & Dissertations
At this study's research site—a small, Virginia community college—faculty, staff and students use digital technology to share information daily, which could cause a problem for some students: students may need digital literacy instruction before the college requires those courses. Another potential problem is that scholars (Stephens, Houser, and Cowan) indicate that some instructors across the academy treat students negatively if students do not demonstrate digital, rhetorical dexterity when communicating—particular digital skills that some students lack.
For this study, I surveyed basic writing (BW) instructors and students at the research site to learn more about their digital experiences. The surveys yielded …
A Comparison Of The Aptitude And Attitude Of College Students Toward Social And Technical Computer Technology, Kathleen Smith
A Comparison Of The Aptitude And Attitude Of College Students Toward Social And Technical Computer Technology, Kathleen Smith
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to investigate college students' technical and social technology competencies based upon their attitudes toward computers and their perception of technical computer knowledge. The participants for this investigation were college undergraduates majoring in apparel merchandising and design and other related and non-related majors at the University of Arkansas. The research model selected for use in this study was the survey design method. There were a total of 1270 students responding to the survey with 1052 usable surveys remaining after cleaning the data for missing entries. This constituted an 83% response rate. The findings included significant …

An Assessment Of Past Nasa Program Sponsored Pre-Service And In-Service Teachers To Determine The Impact Of Their Training And Preparation For The Computer Technology Standards Of Learning For Virginia Public School Educators, Lloyd B. Evans
OTS Master's Level Projects & Papers
To assist in solving these problems, the following objectives have been established: 1. To measure how well prepared the pre-service teachers are to use and teach instructional computer technology; 2. To measure in-service teachers' computer technology skills; 3. Assess teachers' integration of computer technology into the core curriculum; 4. Conduct a diminutive program evaluation of NASA computer technology education programs.
Computer Technology For Executive Decision-Making In Urban Public Education Divisions In Virginia, Richard Kenneth Byrd
Computer Technology For Executive Decision-Making In Urban Public Education Divisions In Virginia, Richard Kenneth Byrd
Theses and Dissertations in Urban Services - Urban Education
The purpose of this study was twofold. First, the study determines if Virginia urban public school executive leadership used automated informational systems to support policy, goal setting, and decision making typical of its job requirements. Secondly, the study describes the planning techniques specific to automated system development used by the school division where such automated executive support occurs.
The personal interview method was selected because it helps to insure 100 percent of the desired sample to participate. The interview technique insures responses to direct questions, to narrative responses sought, and to follow-up discussions necessary to insure clarification.
The instrument follows …
