Leading Horses To Water During A Pandemic: Assuring Communication Learning For "Quants", Thomas Hall
Leading Horses To Water During A Pandemic: Assuring Communication Learning For "Quants", Thomas Hall
International Journal for Business Education
Students who are attracted to quantitative disciplines of study can be reluctant to devote much attention to the important task of communicating, and previous research (Hostager, 2018) has identified statistically significant differences in learning approaches by major among undergraduate business students. This paper presents results of learning assurance for writing skills (direct measures) even when the content of the course relates to the highly quantitative topics of data analytics and finance. The approach combines various pedagogical methods in an undergraduate, writing-intensive setting: traditional testing but in an iterative framework, “flipped classroom” intensive work using spreadsheet software, repeated submission of brief …
Undergraduate Nursing Education Simulation Training Using Virtual Reality Goggles And Teamstepps Methodology, Jennifer Koalenz
Undergraduate Nursing Education Simulation Training Using Virtual Reality Goggles And Teamstepps Methodology, Jennifer Koalenz
SACAD: John Heinrichs Scholarly and Creative Activity Days
Abstract
Due to changes in educational processes during global pandemic restrictions and the rapid pace of innovation and developments in virtual reality technology, this modality of education is expected to become a common presence in healthcare education. Immersive simulation activities can be an effective way to facilitate collaboration and communication skills in a constructivist-based classroom. Evidence shows that virtual simulation improves critical thinking skills, psychomotor skills, and decision making (Padilha et al., 2019). In addition, the availability of an on-demand, customizable scenario is highly useful to supplement clinical learning when necessary. But many caution that virtual simulation, just like any …

Politeness Strategies In Whatsapp Messages Between Undergraduate Students And Their Professors, Mouad Al-Natour, Shafiq Banat
Politeness Strategies In Whatsapp Messages Between Undergraduate Students And Their Professors, Mouad Al-Natour, Shafiq Banat
Jerash for Research and Studies Journal مجلة جرش للبحوث والدراسات
This study investigates the politeness strategies that are used by undergraduate students with their professor using WhatsApp messages. Using technology and social media applications facilitates communication among societies in general and students with their professors in particular. Moreover, it shows the disparity of using politeness strategies among the students while they were contacting their professors by WhatsApp application. A Qualitative approach is used to analyze WhatsApp messages sent by the students to their professors from 30/07/2022 to 30/08/2022. The data was collected from four WhatsApp groups for specific courses they study at Jerash university. Brown and Levinson’s (1987) politeness theory …

Medical School Middle Managers Learning To Successfully Work With Leadership To Navigate Organizational Change, Elizabeth G. Smith
Medical School Middle Managers Learning To Successfully Work With Leadership To Navigate Organizational Change, Elizabeth G. Smith
Doctor of Education Program Dissertations
There is a lapse in research exploring middle managers at medical schools during an organizational change. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to examine the perceptions of middle managers during an organizational change to mitigate burnout and build resilience. The literature reviewed explored how stressors from organizational changes may impact medical school middle managers, leading to feeling less secure about their position and increasing middle managers’ stress leading to burnout. For an organizational change to be successful, middle managers must build trust with their staff, communicate with middle managers, and engage middle managers in the change process. Burnout …

The Use Of A Behavior Chain Interruption Strategy To Teach Mands For Help With An Adult With Intellectual Disability And Deaf-Blindness, Hannah E. Thompson, Robbie Hanson
Faculty Scholarship
Individuals with deaf-blindness and co-occurring diagnoses, such as intellectual and developmental disabilities, may experience difculty with independence, specifcally with communication. One behavior-analytic procedure that may be useful for increasing independence and teaching communication to this population is the behavior-chain interruption strategy (BCIS). The current study examined the use of the BCIS to teach a 65-year-old deaf-blind participant with severe intellectual disability to use a SadoTech Elderly Monitoring Pager to notify others in the environment when help was needed. The researcher alternated between establishing operation (EO; help needed, items missing, or inoperable) and abolishing operation (AO; help not needed, items present, …
Seating Groups And 'What A Coincidence!': Mathematics In The Making And How It Gets Presented, Peter J. Rowlett
Seating Groups And 'What A Coincidence!': Mathematics In The Making And How It Gets Presented, Peter J. Rowlett
Journal of Humanistic Mathematics
Mathematics is often presented as a neatly polished finished product, yet its development is messy and often full of mis-steps that could have been avoided with hindsight. An experience with a puzzle illustrates this conflict. The puzzle asks for the probability that a group of four and a group of two are seated adjacently within a hundred seats, and is solved using combinatorics techniques.

The Reality Of The Organizational Climate At The Arab American University, And Its Relationship To Motivation As Perceived By The Faculty Members, Mohammad Omran, Mousa Odeh
Journal of the Arab American University مجلة الجامعة العربية الامريكية للبحوث
The study aimed to identify the reality of the organizational climate at the Arab American University and its relationship to motivation as perceived by the faculty members and see the variance in their estimates in light of their demographic variable. The researchers used the descriptive and correlational approach. The study population consisted of all full timers at AAUP whose number is 288, distributed among (11) scientific colleges. On the other hand, the sample was 20% of the population; (60) were randomly selected and consequently, stratified in light of the study variables. The researchers used a valid and reliable questionnaire, which …
