Factor Analysis Of Intern Effectiveness, Sid T. Womack, Shellie Louise Hannah, Columbus David Bell

Administrative Issues Journal

Four factors in teaching intern effectiveness, as measured by a Praxis III-similar instrument, were found among observational data of teaching interns during the 2010 spring semester. Those factors were lesson planning, teacher/student reflection, fairness & safe environment, and professionalism/efficacy. This factor analysis was as much of a statement about effective teaching as it is about the technical aspects of an instrument utilized to assess it. Forty-one percent of effective teaching was found to be in the lesson planning.

The Perceived Self- Efficacy Of West Virginia Public Elementary School Teachers To Teach Character Education, Hannah R. Toney

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of West Virginia public elementary school teachers’ self-efficacy for teaching character education. Questions addressed teachers’ overall level of perceived self-efficacy for teaching character education; the levels of perceived self-efficacy in student engagement, instructional strategies, and classroom management; and the differences between levels of perceived self-efficacy and selected school and teacher demographic/attribute variables. Teacher self-efficacy to instruct character education was measured using the Teacher Self-Efficacy to Instruct Character Education (TSICE) survey, an adaptation of the Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES) designed by Megan Tschannen-Moran and Anita Woolfolk Hoy (2001). The …

Survey data were collected from pre-service teachers studying at a large regional Australian university. These data were examined with the purpose of determining whether pre-service teachers' views (and concerns) about inclusion and their confidence to teach in inclusive classrooms had changed as a result of studying an inclusive education subject and undertaking a practicum linked to that subject. The results of an analysis based on mean values indicated that the various concerns, namely, resources, acceptance, workplace, and academic standards, did not change markedly as a consequence of the subject and practicum experiences. This analysis also showed a hierarchy of concerns …

Background: Anxiety and mood disorders involve a high disease burden and are associated with high economic costs. Eligible participants (N =500) of five Dutch outpatient Mental Healthcare Centers are randomly assigned to either TAU or to the experimental condition (brief CBT and/or pharmacotherapy). Data on …

Technology Use In Higher Education Instruction, Sammy Elzarka

CGU Theses & Dissertations

The significance of integrating technology use in higher education instruction is undeniable. The benefits include those related to access to instruction by underserved populations, adequately preparing students for future careers, capitalizing on best instructional practices, developing higher order thinking activities, and engaging students whose relationships with technology are increasingly native, among others. The significance of the current study is based on the fact that few prior studies focused on the factors that support, or inhibit, the use of educational technology by faculty in schools of education. The data collection instrument was a survey designed by the principal investigator based on …

Teaching Artists And Their Level Of Teacher Efficacy, Timarie Fisk

All ETDs from UAB

As budgets for education in the United States shrink, educational organizations have sought outside grants and funding for their schools. Many state and national organizations have provided funding opportunities specifically to ensure that the arts remain in the schools. Teaching artists are one resource being employed by schools not only to teach the arts but also to make a positive impact on academic achievement. In their careers, teaching artists are asked to play dual roles, as both teacher and artist. The purpose of this quantitative study was to investigate the levels of and contributing factors for teacher efficacy among teaching …
