Objective. To examine faculty members’ and students’ expectations and perceptions of e-mail communication in a dual pathway pharmacy program. Methods. Three parallel survey instruments were administered to campus students, distance students, and faculty members, respectively. Focus groups with students and faculty were conducted. Results. Faculty members perceived themselves as more accessible and approachable by e-mail than either group of students did. Campus students expected a shorter faculty response time to e-mail and for faculty members to be more available than did distance students. Conclusion. The Role Of Discriminatory Experiences On Hispanic Students’ College Choice Decisions, Amanda Taggart, Gloria Crisp

This study examined the impact of discriminatory experiences on Hispanic students’ decisions concerning postsecondary enrollment. Logistic regression was used to identify variables associated with Hispanic students’ decisions to attend either a 2- or a 4-year institution within the context of theory concerning college choice/success. Data were drawn from a nationally representative sample ( n = 2,210) of Hispanic students from the ELS:2002 data set. Results indicated that Hispanic students were less likely to attend a 4-year institution if they personally experienced or perceived others being discriminated against during high school. HIGHLIGHTS

 Maine’s public universities awarded 5,484 degrees during the 2009-10 academic year; an increase of 95 over the previous year.

 Nearly 75% of degrees conferred are at the baccalaureate level; over 16% at the masters level; nearly 5% at the associate level; and nearly 3% at the doctorate level (including law).

 73% of all degrees are conferred at UMaine and USM; 9% at UMA; 8% at UMF; nearly 5% at UMPI; 4% at UMFK; and 1.0% at UMM.

 Over 60% of degrees conferred are awarded to women and nearly 40% to men.
