Successful Implementation Of 504 Plans : What Are The Common Elements?, Eugenia Damron

The objective of this qualitative research was to study the implementation of successful 504 Plans. Five students were determined to have successful plans based on parent and teacher perceptions as well as school achievement. The parents, teachers, administrators, and five students with successful 504 Plans participated in this study. Findings determined that there were four common factors in successful 504 Plans: communication, parental involvement, necessary accommodations, and student’s willingness to work. Other factors unique to some of the cases (extended family, support services, and medication) also played a role in the success some students achieved.

An Analysis Of Accelerated Christian Education And College Preparedness Based On Act Scores, Lisa J.L. Kelley

The current paper discusses Christian education in relation to college preparedness. The author focuses on Christian education and the use of Accelerated Christian Education, a prepackaged curriculum, specifically used in private fundamentalist Christian schools. Relevant research is reviewed regarding college preparedness and Christian education. The researcher obtained the ACT scores received by graduates of an ACE school over the past five years. These scores were analyzed using a t-test of comparative means (p<.05) to determine if there were a significant differences in ACT scores between students at the Accelerated Christian School and the students of a public high school in the same area with a graduate college application rate of 75-83%. Scores were analyzed and a significant difference was found between the public school graduatesí scores and the ACE graduatesí scores in all areas of the ACT (English, Math, Reading, and Composite Score), except the area of Science Reasoning. Overall, the ACT scores of the ACE graduates were consistently lower than those of the public school students.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between mean student program scores on standardized pre-graduation nursing tests, program attendance policies, grading scales, policies on repeating nursing courses, faculty turnover, degree, teaching experience, clinical nursing experience, part-time faculty, national certification, and NCLEX-RN success in West Virginia nursing programs from 1991-2000. A causal comparative and correlational design was used to investigate the relationship between the dependent variable of NCLEX-RN pass rates and the independent variables. The purpose of this research is to review the history of athletic training in the secondary schools of West Virginia, as well as to determine how appropriate the current level of athletic healthcare is for West Virginia’s secondary school athletes. Participation surveys from the WVSSAC, membership statistics from the NATA, Friday night football game reports, and documents from the WVDE were used to gather data. Most theorists suggest that the developement of self-esteem is found through interactions and experiences. However, these experiences may greatly differ between males and females in early adolescence because of developmental differences between the genders. Socialization may also play an important role in the self-esteem differences between genders. Overall, males and females have different developmental levels at the middle school age. Early or late development may impact the adolescent's self-esteem. This study will examine the differences in self-esteem between genders in middle school adolescents.

The effectiveness of the Tender Hearts program is examined, based on the perception of participants. Data collection is obtained by a questionnaire developed from the objectives of the program. Frequency analysis and descriptive statistics are utilized to examine the data. Overall, the participants demonstrate satisfaction with Tender Hearts. The study’s limitations are discussed.

The purpose of investigating these measures is to provide higher education officials with a means to predict the likelihood of the closure of a higher education institution. The present study is intended to examine whether the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale III or Woodcock-Johnson III Cognitive Abilities would better predict reading achievement on the WJ III Achievement in the college student population. Participants included 29 college students attending a university in the Midwest, being evaluated for a learning disability or academic accommodations. Data were analyzed using Pearson r correlation, Fisher z, and t-test for each intelligence test in comparison to achievement subtests. This study analyzed the degree of transformational leadership exhibited by 1862 and 1890 cooperative extension administrators in states with both extension systems as a predictor for the attainment of state match in federal fiscal year 2004. An additional focus of this study was to analyze institution type, sex, age, and years of experience as predictors for the attainment of state match in federal fiscal year 2004. Repeated testing was applied in a college classroom setting to determine whether a single intervening test, which allowed for retrieval practice, would improve performance on a final test compared to a single structured rehearsal of the material. Performance was measured using multiple-choice exams and relatedness rating tests. The findings suggest that a test condition which requires retrieval, when compared to a read-only condition, improves performance on a final test of item-specific knowledge but not on a test of relational knowledge of the same material. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between levels of moral reasoning and the use of transformational leadership behaviors of public school administrators in West Virginia. The Defining Issues Test-2 was used to measure levels of moral reasoning. Transformational leadership behaviors were measured by the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire 5x. The population for the study consisted of 55 superintendents; 62 deputy, assistant, or associate superintendents and 250 randomly selected principals. In January 2005, a new after-school intervention program was implemented by a public middle school with the desire to raise their students. state proficiency scores. In order to evaluate their program and report the results of their labor, the proficiency scores of these southern Ohio students were studied by comparing the arithmetic means of the March 2003 fourth grade state proficiency scores with the arithmetic means of the March 2005 sixth grade state proficiency scores in the areas of reading and math. This study examined the types of support received by National Board Certified Teachers, the importance of the support, and the relationship between receipt of support and achievement of certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Qualitative and quantitative methods of gathering data were used during this study. Six National Board Certified Teachers were interviewed by telephone and emergent category analysis was performed on these data to determine the types of support these teachers received.
