Fraters In Facultate: Models Of Excellence In Fraternity Advising, Charles G. Eberly Mar 1997

Fraters In Facultate: Models Of Excellence In Fraternity Advising, Charles G. Eberly

Charles G. Eberly

This paper is the first of a number I planned to carry out on models of excellent in fraternity chapter advising. I am still working on the qualitative data I collected a decade and a half later. The thesis is that if one focused on models of excellence in fraternity operations to learn the manner in which successful leaders and organizations achieve their objectives, much greater progress would be made than focusing on the reduction of negative issues and problems such as alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, and hazing.

The Voltammetry Of Sc3@C82, Mark Anderson, Harry Dorn, Paul Burbank, Steven Stevenson, James Gibson Jan 1997

The Voltammetry Of Sc3@C82, Mark Anderson, Harry Dorn, Paul Burbank, Steven Stevenson, James Gibson

Mark R. Anderson

Many endohedral metallofullerenes have a C82 cage surrounding the metals, even though the normal arc-vaporization method of fullerene preparation does not generate C82 in significant abundance.1-10Manolopous et al.11-13attribute the low abundance of empty-cage C82 to the unfavorable electron configuration of this species. Consequently, the prevalence of C82 in metallofullerenes may be the result of an electron transfer from the encapsulated metal atoms to the fullerene cage.10-13 The extent of this charge transfer also contributes to the properties (e.g. catalytic, superconductive, nonlinear optical, and ferromagnetic) that are attributed to the endohedral metallofullerenes.14,15Because of the importance of the charge transfer reaction, characterization …

Voltammetric Studies Of Mn@C82, Mark Anderson, Harry Dorn, Paul Burbank, James Gibson Dec 1996

Voltammetric Studies Of Mn@C82, Mark Anderson, Harry Dorn, Paul Burbank, James Gibson

Mark R. Anderson

The voltammetry for a series of related endohedral metallofullerenes is reported. It is found that as additional metal atoms are inserted into the fullerene cage, the first reduction of the metallofullerenes shifts to more negative potentials. This is consistent with more charge being transferred to the fullerene cage from the additional metal atom; however, the magnitude of the shift is much smaller than expected.

Haitian Education Under Siege: Democratization, National Development, And Social Reconstruction, Marc Prou Dec 1996

Haitian Education Under Siege: Democratization, National Development, And Social Reconstruction, Marc Prou

Marc E. Prou

From a national development perspective, the Haitian educational system presents an alarming picture. It is one in which too much is expected of too little, and in which results are sacrificed to bureacratic convenience. The facts are simple and irrefutable. Only a massive investment in human capital formation will bring economic and social progress in Haiti. Yet economic growth and industrial expansion rely on education as a key factor for human capital formation. The major dichotomy between the two is that education can influence national development only to the extent that individuals are able to put the interests of the nation …

Intended And Unintended Overconsumption Of Physical, Spacial, And Temporal Resources., Carin Herlocker, Scott Allison, John D. Foubert, James Beggan

Scott T. Allison

Two studies explored perceptual biases on how resources are shared among groups of people. Intentional and unintentional processes were uncovered.

Effects Of A Sexual Assault Peer Education Program On Men's Belief In Rape Myths., John D. Foubert, Kenneth A. Marriott Dec 1996

Effects Of A Sexual Assault Peer Education Program On Men's Belief In Rape Myths., John D. Foubert, Kenneth A. Marriott

John D. Foubert

An all-male sexual assault peer education program was shown to lead to a decline in rape myth acceptance for two months among fraternity men.
