An Inservice Program For Developing Teacher Lesson Plans, Jane Kennedy

Masters Theses

This paper deals with change and the inservice program that brought about the change. A log is included that documents the process from the establishment of need, through three workshops that direct the change, to the final writing of a manual of yearly goals and objectives for each teacher participant.

The writer of the paper is an elementary principal of a small rural school. The faculty participants were both elementary and high school teachers who were deeply ingrained in unchanging teaching methods. Several had taught in their fields for so long that they felt no need of establishing a plan …

A Study Of The Utilization Of The Harper Community College Sixteen Millimeter Film Collection And Instructors' Motives For Using Those Films, Roger Joseph Rezabek

Masters Theses

This study examined two aspects of sixteen millimeter film utilization at Harper Community College in northeastern Illinois, near Chicago. The second aspect dealt with instructors' motives for selecting and using a particular film in a given instructional situation.

The data on film utilization showed that approximately 14% of the titles in the collection were used an average of more than five times per year. At the same time, over 16% of the titles in the collection were used …

Administrative Internship, Mt. Zion Community School District #3, James D. Price Jan 1980

Administrative Internship, Mt. Zion Community School District #3, James D. Price

Masters Theses

Ideally, the best approach to learning administration for educational institutions is to observe the work of administrators in the field. While it is overly pretentious to advocate ascertaining all functions of one office, it is possible to develop a working knowledge of the primary responsibilities involved in several positions, namely, the central office administration.

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, the Assistant Superintendent, and the Director of Guidance for Mt. Zion Schools this writer has acquired such working knowledge. Although the basic theory for role development of each of these positions is transmitted in this paper, it is …

The Need, Development And Implementation Of A Student/Parent Handbook For Warrensburg-Latham High School, Roger T. Mitchell Jan 1980

The Need, Development And Implementation Of A Student/Parent Handbook For Warrensburg-Latham High School, Roger T. Mitchell

Masters Theses

The project selected for completion of my degree evolved from numerous situations experienced during my first year as Assistant Principal at Warrensburg-Latham High School, where I was primarily responsible for dealing with student discipline.

Early in the school year it became evident that the existing student handbook was not as diverse or explicit as I felt should be necessary. In continual discussions with the principal it was concluded that a new student handbook should be implemented for the following school term. I operated through the remainder of the 1978-79 school year with the existing laminated folder type handbook, which consistently …

A Study In The Development Of A Handbook For Student Personnel Workers On First Semester Freshmen, Alexander B. Russell Jr.

Masters Theses

Statement of Problem:

There are many reasons why a youth goes to college and there are many reasons why first semester freshmen do not pass the first semester. As a student personnel worker your job is to screen these students and find out a little about them, so some sort of program can be organized. Of course, there are advisement centers and Guidance and Counseling Programs at most colleges, but how effective these programs are remains to be seen.

It is essential to understand the first semester freshman from the first day they come riding into college on a sea …

Curriculum Development For Cooperative Education, Ann Ferris Jan 1980

Curriculum Development For Cooperative Education, Ann Ferris

The Development Of A Student Handbook For The Argenta-Oreana Middle School, Michael Schmitz Jan 1980

The Development Of A Student Handbook For The Argenta-Oreana Middle School, Michael Schmitz

Masters Theses

The development of a student handbook for the Middle School students of the Argenta-Oreana School District was the object of this particular field study. The handbook previously used by the students was merely an overview of the rules and regulations and was definitely lacking in detail and explanation. Our high school has a student handbook, but the distinct differences between the operation of the high school and the middle school would not permit the use of the same handbook for both buildings. It was through experiences of my four years of employment as middle school principal, directives from the board …
