Edward C. Jackson was born on January 17, 1911, in Canfield, Braxton County, WV. In 1926, he moved to Fenwick, Nicholas County, WV, to pursue jobs in saw mills. In his interview, Mr. Jackson describes in great detail the design and structure of the log home he lived in as a child. He focuses on growing up on a farm and places emphasis on the type of work he did and food preparation and preservation. Mr. Jackson also discusses the tight-knit community in which he was raised. Purpose. It was the purpose of this study to determine if attitudes toward education of students and parents of students involved in a specific individualized reading program ranging from one to three years in grades four through eight were significantly different from those of students and parents of students enrolled in a traditional reading program in the same school system. Purpose. The purpose of this study was (1) to assess the preparation programs for educational administrators and supervisors in colleges and universities in the State of Tennessee, (2) to analyse the certification requirments for administrators and supervisors in Tennessee, and (3) to determine the number of administrative and supervisory personnel employed in the State of Tennessee during 1971-72. The problem was divided into components to facilitate the identification of the many aspects involved. Purpose. The problem of this study was to present the history of intercollegiate athletics at Milligan College from 1887-1973. Method. Both primary and secondary sources were used in gaining knowledge of the history of sports. Interviews were conducted with individuals who had been in the position of president or athletic director. All interviews were tape recorded. These interviews were transcribed for use in the study. A questionnaire was used to secure the opinions of professors, students, and former students. Past practices and records were gleaned from residents who had lived in the area of Milligan College for a great length …

Education of women has been neglected in many ways throughout history. In recent decades educational opportunities for women have been greatly expanded. Women have become leaders in education and compose the majority of public school teachers. In spite of these strides in women's education, and growing educational provisions for both men and women, some special groups remain neglected.
This investigator is particularly concerned with one special group: School-age girls who are pregnant. Special educational needs of most school-age pregnant girls are not being met. These young women often face insurmountable difficulties in the schools.

The purpose of this paper was: (1) To compare the number of years of formal education of participants in the Latter-Day Saints Indian Student Placement Program with those that had not participated. (2) To see if the number of years a student participates in the Indian Student Placement Program had an effect on the amount of formal education he receives. (3) To compare the future educational and employment plans of the two groups. (4) To see how students evaluated their educational program.

This study was designed to compare elementary teacher preparation programs at Utah State University as a basis for evaluation of the SODIA program. SODIA is the acronym for a new elementary teacher preparation program initiated in the Fall of 1972 which was designed to be field centered and competency based.
The population of the study consisted of 104 elementary student teachers enrolled in student teaching during Fall and Winter Quarters of the 1973-74 academic year. There were four groups identified by the type of preparation program they had experienced. The groups were SODIA (the new program for preparing elementary teachers), …

PURPOSE: It was the purpose of this study to compare the academic gains of kindergarten children showing six to eighteen months' deficiency in readiness skills as measured by the ABC Inventory in September, 1973. This comparison was based on parent education experiences and a structured mother-child games technique durinq the early months of the subjects' kindergarten school year.
