  • Dr. Griffith T. Pugh, Jr. [1908-2008] was a professor of English at Winthrop from 1938 to 1947. Southern Literature was his specialty. He left Winthrop for Florida State University. His father Dr. Griffith T. Pugh, Sr. was the Bursar and Head, of the Mathematics Department at Winthrop from 1921 to 1936.
