The problem of this thesis is to determine how nearly certain selected textbooks of recent date in geography are adapted to attain objectives of geography found listed in published authoritative sources in the field of geography. The thesis is limited in its scope in that it uses only the second book of the series, in the texts thus in a measure getting the same level of material in each case.

In February 1935 the Washington Education Joumal carried a brief article under the title of "World History, 'What's It All About?'" Since then several letters have come from world history teachers from within the state. Frankly, they have caused some embarrassment. In almost one accord they have chided the writer with pointing out some of the problems relative to presenting world history without giving a hint as to possible remedial measures.
