All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
The encouragement of individual self-improvement and enlightenment through the process of a formal education is basic to the social system of our nation. College and university administrators are therefore faced with a practical exigency for understanding those factors that are associated with academic achievement. (During the past several years there has been increasing evidence that college achievement is dependent upon something more than intellectual ability. From experience, the average counselor in a college or university has become aware of this fact time and time again. Some studies have gone further and suggested specific personality characteristics of successful and unsuccessful students. …

The junior, community, or vocational-technical college is evolving into one of the most important educational institutions in the United States. The Carnegie Commission said, "Occupational programs should be given the fullest support and status within community colleges. These programs need to be flexibly geared to the changing requirements of society." Today's business society is constantly changing and this change necessitates constant analysis, evaluation, and revision of educational training programs. According to Goddard:
The development and improvement of junior college business curricula should be based on careful evaluation of present curricular offerings in business and extensive research into the nature of …

The study showed 93 per cent of the new 1971 model cars were not meeting the standard established by the Environmental Protection Agency. Eighty-seven per cent of the 1970 model cars and 83 …

They learned something of our American way of life and enjoyed it enough to want to share in it. They knew that to be able to compete with others they would have to get an education and be able to speak English. When these veterans and defense workers returned to the reservation after the war, they started a movement to get the children into school. This movement grew until 91 percent of all school age children were in school in 1957 compared with 32 percent in 1945 when the movement started.

A Survey Of Speech Education In The High Schools Of California, Marian Helen Mellgren
A Survey Of Speech Education In The High Schools Of California, Marian Helen Mellgren
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Perhaps the first justification for the inclusion of speech in today’s curriculum is the very evident predominance of oral communication in our lives. Painter has pointed out that “oral communication is the vehicle for 90 percent of the exchange of ideas.”
A second justification for the belief that speech education is important today lies in the fact that our country is a democracy. Democracy is essentially a government by talk, a government in which problems are not settled by force, but in which problems are talked out of existence or into solution. Long ago Aristotle identified communication with political freedom …

Since the First World War, there has been an increased recognition for the need of physical education in the elementary school. Although educators recognize and agree on the need, they are not in agreement as to how to best achieve this need. Some educators believe that physical education should be taught as a specialized subject. Through this means, instruction is provided by a specialist who is trained in physical education. Some educators believe that physical education should be integrated with every other phase of the school program and taught by the classroom teacher. There are other educators who believe that …

Through the Tenth Amendment responsibility for the administration of education has been turned over to the various states. Most of the states through their constitutions place the responsibility upon the legislature to provide for organization and maintenance of public school systems. Creation was once a prerogative of the gods. For ages the magic word "genius" served as a harrier to isolate from the common man that one in whom burned the spark of constructive originality. In the past we have never considered the possibility of his being one of the teeming throng who Invade our classrooms daily; or having given way to such an absurdity, we have hastily dismissed the Idea, feeling that, if he were, his presence would surely be announced by the choir invisible or some other divine agency.
Of recent years we have experienced a change of opinion. …
