Influence Tactics Employed By High School Assistant Principals In Attempting To Influence Their Principals, Brian L. Maher May 1999

Influence Tactics Employed By High School Assistant Principals In Attempting To Influence Their Principals, Brian L. Maher

Student Work

An important element of success in any managerial position rests in an ability to positively influence superiors. Nowhere in schooling is the need to be able to influence superiors more apparent than in the high school assistant principalship. Despite the similarity in titles, assistant principals are not principals. Their positions do not carry the authority of the principalship, and they-even more than a classroom teacher- are directly dependent upon the principal for job assignments, direction, permission, and support. Success in the assistant principalship requires a positive and mutually influential relationship with the principal. The nature of their work drives assistant …

Education Masters

One of the most important issues facing the modern world today is the Year 2000 problem. One of the greatest impacts of this problem is experienced by legacy computer systems. These are the database systems that run our businesses. Legacy systems are operated by segregated software packages that may or may not be able to "communicate" to each other. With the globalization of the economy, business computer systems need to be able to communicate with each other. This type of situation is what enterprise resource planning software is designed to solve. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems provide a common, consistent …

The Impact Of Staff Development Practices On Implementation Of Middle School Components, Denise Charbonnet May 1999

The Impact Of Staff Development Practices On Implementation Of Middle School Components, Denise Charbonnet

University of New Orleans Theses and Dissertations

Middle schools serve young adolescents who require a separate schooling experience from both elementary and high school students. The Middle School Movement has been around since the 1960s, yet middle schools have not been fully implemented in this country. Middle schools are still in the early stage of reform.

Staff development activities are necessary to prepare school personnel to implement best middle school practices. Because few states require certification at the middle school level, most school personnel are poorly prepared to implement best middle school practices. Thus, Carnegie (1989) recommendations are not fully incorporated in most middle schools.

In this …
