Construction And Implementation Of An Individualized Math Program For Sixth Graders, Lynda Sylvia Hatch
Construction And Implementation Of An Individualized Math Program For Sixth Graders, Lynda Sylvia Hatch
Dissertations and Theses
The sixth grade teachers at Mooberry School in Hillsboro, Oregon were not pleased with the way they were teaching math. The students, grouped by ability, had a poor self-concept about math and felt "locked into" one class.
During the summer of 1973, these teachers considered ways to change their math instruction. Reading was done to determine the most promising practice in math education in the United States. A successful approach to learning appeared to be individualized instruction, as is discussed in this paper. Many different individualized programs were studied, grouped into eleven general categories, and described in detail. The Mooberry …

Presweetened Cereal Patterns Of Older Sib Families And No Older Sib Families: Child's Preference, Mother's Perception Of Child's Preference, And Family Purchase, Doris Ellen Phillips
Doctoral Dissertations
The child's food preferences are influenced by several variables. Some of these included his flavor perception, television commercials, sibling influence, and other family characteristics. These factors vary depending upon his place in the family and his development at any particular period in his life.
Thirty 4-to 5-year-old children and their mothers were interviewed separately to determine each of their perceptions of the child's presweetened cereal preferences. Sensory tests were used to determine the child's actual presweetened cereal preference and his physiological perception of the sweet taste and flavor. His familiarity with television commercials was explored and he was asked to …

The purpose of this study was to examine the interrelationships between the School of Education and the rest of the university by means of the course demands placed by elementary education majors and graduate education students on other academic departments during the fall terms of 1972 and 1973. It also examined the course demands placed on the School of Education by other major groups for this period. The Induced Course Load Matrix (ICLM) was the vehicle used in this examination. A Report Of An Internship In Gull Lake Community Schools, Gull Lake, Michigan, Gary J. Jackson
Masters Theses
The Gull Lake Community Schools, a class B school with an enrollment of 3000 students, 145 teachers, and 12 administrative staff, provided an intern experience for me from June 24, 1974 to August 14, 1974.
The intern experience was related to the role of the school superintendent. The role of the superintendent varies from district to district but generally playing the role requires a great deal of human, conceptual, and technical skills that when utilized properly result in a healthy, productive educational institution.
As a result of the internship, this intern believes that he has a very broad knowledge of …

The purpose of the present investigation was to identify the kinds of facilities and rehabilitative opportunities available for children. Further purposes were to determine, more precisely, what New Mexico facilities offer parents and their children displaying emotional problems. The third purpose was to determine how New Mexico’s few existing facilities are similar or different from those of their counterparts in 23 other states (funding staff composition, and programs). It was the intent of the present investigation to provide an overview of the emotionally disturbed child's rehabilitative opportunities and to conceptualize on the resources each setting has to offer a child …
