A Comparison Of Three Operational Definitions Of Job Satisfaction, Thomas J. Kuieck
A Comparison Of Three Operational Definitions Of Job Satisfaction, Thomas J. Kuieck
Dissertations
The major purpose of the study was to provide to educational leaders information pertinent to the selection of job satisfaction instruments. The Need Satisfaction Questionnaire created by Porter, as modified by Trusty and Sergiovanni, and the Quality of Employment Job Satisfaction Survey developed by personnel from the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan were compared with the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire developed by Weiss, Dawis, England, and Lofquist to investigate the concurrent validity of the instruments. The study focused primarily on the psychometric aspects of the Need Satisfaction Questionnaire, an instrument used by earlier investigators to assess individuals' …
A Field Study Of Goal-Based And Goal-Free Evaluation Techniques, John W. Evers
A Field Study Of Goal-Based And Goal-Free Evaluation Techniques, John W. Evers
Dissertations
Educational evaluation theorists propose two methodologies that could be used to assess a project or program's achievements. One method is well established and is called goal-based evaluation. The other has been proposed recently and is called goal-free evaluation. Little information exists about goal-free evaluation in field settings. The problem to be addressed was: What would be the results of a field study that compared the relative utility of operationalized versions of goal-free and goal-based evaluation techniques? The perspective selected to investigate this problem was evaluator/evaluee interactions. This study had two objectives: (1) to develop materials and procedures for using the …

A Learner Verification And Revision Of A Linear Programmed Text, Frank J. Schwartz
Masters Theses
A field testing procedure was implemented using a programmed text with two high school introductory business classes. The text attempted to teach concepts related to the stockmarket. Pretest and post test measures were taken for each class. After the first class was used the text, the program was revised based upon post test data. The criterion for whether or not to revise a frame sequence teaching an objective was 11% of the students failing the post test item testing that objective. Stability And Change In Self-Conceptions As A Function Of Perceived Consistency Of Evaluations Among Significant Others, Alan Mcevoy
Dissertations
This study represents an attempt to empirically test a theoretical model explicating the contingencies associated with stability and change in self-conceptions among highschool students. Specifically, this investigation is concerned with the cumulative and isolated impact of perceived parental, teacher, and peer expectations on student self-conceptions over time.
The basic postulate is that patterns of stability and change in self-conceptions are a function of the degree of perceived consistency in the expectations and evaluations of significant others. The data were supportive of the consistency model and suggest that some groups of significant others have a greater impact on the self-conceptualizing process …
