The Exit Survey of Undergraduate Students Completing Degrees in the Spring of 2010 (Exit Survey) is the second annual survey of graduating students at Western Washington University. This survey was designed to illuminate departmental-, college-, and university-level information on student satisfaction, barriers to success, experiences in upper division courses, and post-graduation plans. This survey also includes questions submitted to the Office of Survey Research (OSR) by specific departments and campus offices. Among these are the Mathematics Department, the Math Center, the Communications Department, the College of Business and Economics, University Residences, and Western’s Office of Transportation Services. Executive Summary: This study was undertaken to establish a technique for quantifying nontraditional assessment outcomes data, to ascertain the effectiveness of the Fairhaven methodology of education, and to provide feedback about that methodology to Fairhaven instructors and administrators. Two assessment tools were utilized: the Perry scheme and the Measure of Intellectual Development (MID). The Perry scheme is a stratified model of cognitive development; the MID is a rating system that allows researchers to assign scores to Perry scheme positions. Executive Summary: During Winter Quarter of 1990, all college department chairs and the deans of Huxley and Fairhaven Colleges were sent a questionnaire intended to delineate admission and graduation requirements. The questionnaire was followed by a telephone or in-person interview. For the purposes of readability, all respondents are referred to as departments. The survey results showed that nineteen departments have self-generated admission requirements, whose categories are as follows: 1) overall university GPA; 2) completion of foundation courses; 3) GPA within foundation courses; 4) credit completion; 5) audition, portfolio, or resume review. Sixteen of the above nineteen departments have multiple requirements. …
