There are great differences in skill levels among students in the class. It should be the focus of our work to improve students to the greatest extent through teaching, gradually narrow the gap between individuals, and improve the overall teaching quality. Objective: The goal of this study was to evaluate the impact of a Play Lü inter-team competition exergame on adolescents’ moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and situational interest (SI).
Materials and Methods: A total of 110 students (Mage = 13.7 ± 1.1, 12-16 years, 53.7 % girls, MBMI = 19.9 ± 3.2) from a secondary school located in Switzerland participated to the study. They played three separate 20-min games in a counterbalance allocated order: (1) Play Lü multiplayer and inter-team competition exergame; (2) Play Lü single-player competition exergame; and (3) Tic-Tac-Toe multiplayer and inter-team competition game. …

Competition Versus Cooperation: Implications For Music Teachers Following Students Feedback From Participation In A Large-Scale Cooperative Music Festival, Geoffrey M. Lowe

Competition is reported in the general education literature as having a largely detrimental impact upon student engagement and long-term motivation, yet competition has long been an accepted part of the music education ensemble landscape. Adjudicated ensemble competitions and competition-festivals are commonplace in most Australian states, as opposed to large-scale cooperative events. Arguments advanced in support of competitive events revolve primarily around perceived extra-musical benefits framed from the director / conductor perspective. The student voice is rarely considered in assessments of the impact of participation. The Perceptions Of Secondary Teachers And Students About The Implementation Of An Inclusive Classroom Model For Students With Mild Disabilities, John O’Rourke, Stephen Houghton

This research used qualitative methods to gather the perceptions of regular classroom teachers and students with and without mild disabilities (MD) about an inclusive program implemented in three separate classrooms and designed to enhance both the academic and social engagement of a small number of students with MD. Teachers acknowledged that these strategies resulted in improvements in their classroom approach and in positive outcomes for students. Two of the three teachers considered that the strategies resulted in limited academic gains, but provided opportunities for students with MD to enhance their social experience. Enhancing Students' Attitude Towards Nigerian Senior Secondary School Physics Through The Use Of Cooperative, Competitive And Individualistic Learning Strategies, Akinyemi Olufunminiyi Akinbobola

The study was conducted to find out the attitude of students towards the use of cooperative, competitive and individualistic learning strategies in Nigerian senior secondary school physics. The design selected for this study was quasi-experimental. A total of 140 students took part in the study and they were selected by a random sampling technique. A structured questionnaire titled Students’ Attitude Towards Physics Questionnaire (SATPQ) on 4-point scale was used to collect the data. The Students’ Attitude Towards Physics Questionnaire (SATPQ) was validated and trial-tested to establish reliability using Cronbach Alpha. The instrument had a coefficient of internal consistency of 0.86. …
