Experimental Research On The Teaching Mode Of Cooperation And Competition In Physical Education, Xuelin Pang, Zhengze Zhang
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
There are great differences in skill levels among students in the class. It should be the focus of our work to improve students to the greatest extent through teaching, gradually narrow the gap between individuals, and improve the overall teaching quality. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the teaching mode of cooperation and competition. The research group conducted two rounds of teaching experiments in Harbin Engineering University. The first round of experiments adopted an equal group pre-test and post-test experimental design. Solomon’s four group design was used in the second round of experiment. The …

Not All Competitions Are The Same: Digital Game-Based Learning Environments That Incorporate Competition Facilitates Students' Learning Motivation, Yong Zeng, John E. Mceneaney
Journal of Research Initiatives
This text presents an argument that competition, as a pedagogical design element, facilitates students’ learning motivation in digital game-based learning environments (DGBLEs). Since competition has long been regarded as an adverse pedagogical element for fostering students’ learning motivation, a considerable proportion of educators and researchers in the U.S. have a variety of concerns about implementing competition in educational practices. However, the function of competition in DGBLEs could be fundamentally different. By reviewing major concerns about competition, this text refutes two major concerns about competition and claims that DGBLEs that incorporate competition facilitate students' learning motivation

Ratio Of Performance Of Highly Qualified Taekwondo Fighters In Difficult And Extreme Conditions, Abror Nuritdinov
Mental Enlightenment Scientific-Methodological Journal
The competitive activity of taekwondo fighters is characterized by the fact that technical and tactical tasks are solved many times. The difficulty in accurately selecting a combat action that will be effective in a particular episode of a battle is that the number of actions planned in combat, as well as their qualitative composition and the nature of the opponent's actions, are constantly changing again and again. In addition, taekwondo fighters have the opportunity to choose objectively when the appropriate solutions are single and multiple. This article covers an analysis of the competitions highly qualified taekwondo fighters have been participating …

The Role Of Sport Activities, Games And Competitions In The Nurture Of 6-7 Years Old Children, Muqaddas Riskulovna Muminova
Mental Enlightenment Scientific-Methodological Journal
The paper analyzes the main approaches to the use of sports in the system of school physical education. The most important objectives of sport activities in primary school are to familiarize the children who are 6-7 years old with the varieties of sports and exercises, and to lay the foundations of proper technique. However, these activities should not become the highly specialized trainings. In our opinion, the system and activity nature of sports and fitness and health recreation activities acts as the effective means to raise the childrens’ social activity characterizing such physical ability degree, which allows him successful implementing …
Using Differential Equations To Model Predator-Prey Relations As Part Of Scudem Modeling Challenge, Zachary Fralish, Bernard Tyson Iii, Anthony Stefan
Using Differential Equations To Model Predator-Prey Relations As Part Of Scudem Modeling Challenge, Zachary Fralish, Bernard Tyson Iii, Anthony Stefan
Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics Journal
Differential equation modeling challenges provide students with an opportunity to improve their mathematical capabilities, critical thinking skills, and communication abilities through researching and presenting on a differential equations model. This article functions to display an archetype summary of an undergraduate student team’s response to a provided prompt. Specifically, the provided mathematical model estimates how certain stimuli from a predator are accumulated to trigger a neural response in a prey. Furthermore, it tracks the propagation of the resultant action potential and the physical flight of the prey from the predator through the analysis of larval zebrafish as a model organism. This …

Different Choices: A Public School Community’S Responses To School Choice Reforms, Amanda U. Potterton
Different Choices: A Public School Community’S Responses To School Choice Reforms, Amanda U. Potterton
The Qualitative Report
In the United States, state and federal reforms increasingly encourage the expansion of school choice policies. Debates about school choice contrast various concepts of freedom and equality with concerns about equity, justice, achievement, democratic accountability, profiting management organizations, and racial and class segregation. Arizona’s “market”-based school choice programs include over 600 charter schools, and the state’s open enrollment practices, public and private school tax credit allowances, and Empowerment Scholarships, (closely related to vouchers), flourish. This qualitative analysis explores one district-run public school and its surrounding community, and I discuss socio-political and cultural tensions related to school choice reforms that exist …

Competition Versus Cooperation: Implications For Music Teachers Following Students Feedback From Participation In A Large-Scale Cooperative Music Festival, Geoffrey M. Lowe
Competition Versus Cooperation: Implications For Music Teachers Following Students Feedback From Participation In A Large-Scale Cooperative Music Festival, Geoffrey M. Lowe
Australian Journal of Teacher Education
Competition is reported in the general education literature as having a largely detrimental impact upon student engagement and long-term motivation, yet competition has long been an accepted part of the music education ensemble landscape. Adjudicated ensemble competitions and competition-festivals are commonplace in most Australian states, as opposed to large-scale cooperative events. Arguments advanced in support of competitive events revolve primarily around perceived extra-musical benefits framed from the director / conductor perspective. The student voice is rarely considered in assessments of the impact of participation. This study presents student feedback following participation in an alternative large-scale cooperative music ensemble festival. Students …

Parts Of The Whole: Moderating Competition In The World Of Ideas, Dorothy Wallace
Numeracy
In both biological and mathematical dynamical systems, competition may be moderated by the presence of a top predator of both competing species. Applying this principle in memetics sheds light on why some strategies are more likely than others to promote quantitative literacy in various kinds of institutions.

Competitive Abilities Of Oat And Barley Varieties, B. D. Mcbratney, K. J. Frey
Competitive Abilities Of Oat And Barley Varieties, B. D. Mcbratney, K. J. Frey
Journal of the Iowa Academy of Science: JIAS
Competitive ability of a plant genotype reflects its capacity to yield well and compete successfully for light, moisture, and nutrients when grown with similar or dissimilar genotypes. This trait is important to plant breeding because most breeding populations are propagated in mixed or competitive stands. The objective of this study was to assess the competitive abilities of oat and barley genotypes.
Two sets of oat and barley genotypes were evaluated for competitive ability. Set I consisted of five oat varieties, and Set II consisted of two barley and three oat varieties. Neither set, when averaged, showed over- or under-compensation with …

Time To Metamorphosis As A Function Of Larval Size In A Population Of Ambystoma Tigrinum Salamanders Consisting Of Cannibal And Typical Morph Phenotypes, Michael J. Lannoo, Michael P. Sweet, Nancy M. Ladehoff, Edmund S. Fangman, William B. Collins
Journal of the Iowa Academy of Science: JIAS
Salamander larvae of the species Ambystoma tigrinum are dimorphic in northwestern Iowa. In addition to common typical morphs, there exist rare, specialized cannibal morphs, which are induced environmentally by crowding. Cannibal morph phenotypes are characterized morphologically by their large size, proportionately large heads and hypertrophied vomerine teeth, and behaviorally by facultative cannibalism. During metamorphosis amphibians are particularly sensitive to predation. To help understand why cannibal morphs are uncommon, we have raised cannibal and typical morphs in isolation and under crowded conditions to compare the timing and duration of metamorphosis between these morphs. Results show that larger larvae, most of which …

The Public-Private Forum: Good Intentions Randomize Behavior, Robert Wood
New England Journal of Public Policy
Public and private institutions of higher learning coexist throughout the United States in a pattern of diversity that is unknown in any other postindustrial society — and Massachusetts is a prime example of U.S. pluralism in education. In an era of scarce resources and mounting costs, the contrary instincts for cooperation and competition are at work. This article is an account ofa voluntary attempt among private and public colleges and universities between 1973 and 1976 to forge a fragile partnership — the Massachusetts Public-Private Forum — which first flourished, then foundered. Tracing the course of its early successes and final …
