A Comparative Analysis Of Mathematical Problem Solving Proficiency Among Students With Musical Intelligence And Students With Kinesthetic Intelligence At Man 2 Palu City, Dasa Ismaimuza Ismaimuza
Jurnal Riset Pendidikan Matematika
The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the results of the analysis of mathematical problem solving for students with musical intelligence and students with kinesthetic intelligence at MAN 2 Palu City. This type of research is qualitative research. The research subjects were one student with musical intelligence and one student with kinesthetic intelligence. The results of this study indicate: Students with musical intelligence have low problem-solving abilities. It can be seen from the students' ability to solve the given mathematical problems, that is, students are less thorough in obtaining information about what is known and asked, …
Towards Pedagogy Supporting Ethics In Modelling, Marie Oldfield
Towards Pedagogy Supporting Ethics In Modelling, Marie Oldfield
Journal of Humanistic Mathematics
Education for concepts such as ethics and societal responsibility that are critical in building robust and applicable mathematical and statistical models do currently exist in isolation but have not been incorporated into the mainstream curricula at the school or university level. This is partially due to the split between fields (such as mathematics, statistics, and computer science) in an educational setting but also the speed with which education is able to keep up with industry and its requirements. I argue that principles and frameworks of socially responsible modelling should begin at school level and that this would mean that ethics …

Visible/Near Infrared (Vis/Nir) Spectroscopy And Multivariate Data Analysis (Mvda) For Identification And Quantification Of Olive Leaf Spot (Ols) Disease, Nawaf Abukhalaf, Mazen Salman
Palestine Technical University Research Journal
Early detection of plant disease requires usually elaborating methods techniques and especially when symptoms are not visible. Olive Leaf Spot (OLS) infecting upper surface of olive leaves has a long latent infection period. In this work, VIS/NIR spectroscopy was used to determine the latent infection and severity of the pathogens. Two different classification methods were used, Partial Least Squared-Discrimination Analysis (PLS-DA) (linear method) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) (non-linear). SVM-classification was able to classify severity levels 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 with classification rates of 94, 90, 73, 79, 83 and 100%, respectively The overall classification rate was …

Australian Gifted And Talented Education: An Analysis Of Government Policies, Jennifer L. Jolly, Jennifer H. Robins
Australian Gifted And Talented Education: An Analysis Of Government Policies, Jennifer L. Jolly, Jennifer H. Robins
Australian Journal of Teacher Education
Education policy signals the level of support or importance for high-performing or gifted and talented students to school leaders, educators, parents, and other stakeholders. These policies communicate the value or goals of departments of education. Given the importance of education policy, there remains a void in the analysis of gifted and talented education policy, which accounts for less than 1% of the empirical literature. We sought to understand how publicly available individual state and territory departments of education’s gifted and talented education policies and guidance documents coalesce with the NAGC (2019) Pre-K–Grade 12 Gifted Education Programming Standards. Although not developed …

REID (Research and Evaluation in Education)
Yureka Education Center (YEC) is one of the institutions which has developed an online-based English proficiency test. The test is called the English Proficiency Online Test (EPOT) which follows the TOEFL ITP (Institutional Testing Program) framework. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the characteristics of EPOT instruments consisting of Listening, Structure, and Reading subtests, which later the quality of each EPOT test item is identified. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach by describing the characteristics of EPOT test items in terms of item difficulty index, item discrimination index, test information's function, and test measurement's errors. The data were collected …

Advocating For The Use Of Poetry And Mixed Media Work In Analytic Processes, Jason D. Dehart
Advocating For The Use Of Poetry And Mixed Media Work In Analytic Processes, Jason D. Dehart
The Qualitative Report
As part of my analytical process of looking at data collected from a pilot study on the use of film in the classroom, I discovered that I had the space to engage in a creative analysis process. In this article, I propose that creative methods be employed when analyzing data. An arts-based approach to research (Barone & Eisner, 1997) led to two creative products for my research: Poetry, which has been used with research in the past (Cahnmann, 2003; McCullis, 2013) and mixed media. This article explores relevant literature about integrating poetry and other arts into analysis and serves to …

This article illustrates the analysis of the translations of William Shakespeare’s sonnets into Russian and Uzbek languages. The aim of this work is to determine the peculiarities of the poetics of Shakespeare’s sonnets in translation into Russian and Uzbek. Achieving this goal led to the solution of the following tasks: consider different translations of the same sonnet into Russian and Uzbek, compare translations of sonnets by Russian poet Samuil Marshak and Uzbek poet Hurshid Davron, to identify differences and “intersection points” in the transfer of the image when translating sonnets into Russian and Uzbek. The focus of the research is …
Local Property Tax Limitations Vs. School District Employee Pension Costs In Pennsylvania, William T. Hartman, Timothy J. Shrom
Local Property Tax Limitations Vs. School District Employee Pension Costs In Pennsylvania, William T. Hartman, Timothy J. Shrom
Educational Considerations
In Pennsylvania as in many other states, employee pension costs are a significant source of financial pressure for school districts. In order to gain greater insight into the nature of Pennsylvania school districts’ financial burden related to pension commitments, this article presents the findings of two scenarios, one which compared the maximum amount of local property tax revenue Pennsylvania school districts could raise under a 2010 state property tax limitation statute, Act 120, to their pension obligations; and a second scenario which incorporated a 1% annual salary increase into the analysis. The article is divided into three sections.

A Practical Method Of Policy Analysis By Estimating Effect Size, James L. Phelps
A Practical Method Of Policy Analysis By Estimating Effect Size, James L. Phelps
Educational Considerations
The previous articles on class size and other productivity research paint a complex and confusing picture of the relationship between policy variables and student achievement. Missing is a conceptual scheme capable of combining the seemingly unrelated research and dissimilar estimates of effect size into a unified structure for policy analysis and decision making. This article builds a rationale for a unifying structure and consistent method of estimating effect size.
A Practical Method Of Policy Analysis By Considering Productivity-Related Research, James L. Phelps
A Practical Method Of Policy Analysis By Considering Productivity-Related Research, James L. Phelps
Educational Considerations
The basic notion underlying schooling is rather simple: Hire teachers to instruct students. From there, the tasks become more complicated. How many teachers should be employed? What assignments should the teachers be given, in the classroom or in a supporting role? What assistance should teachers receive from aides or volunteers?
Factor Analysis Of Explanatory Variables In An Achievement Production Function, James L. Phelps
Factor Analysis Of Explanatory Variables In An Achievement Production Function, James L. Phelps
Educational Considerations
Addendum: Combining explanatory variables into factors instead of using individual variables in an achievement production function is advocated in several of the articles in this special issue. The following is a brief overview of factor analysis explaining and illustrating the reasoning for this technique.

This case study presents the development of a research project in a third-year undergraduate course, Family Business Administration. The research project aimed at promoting research skills in students. The authors formed working groups of no more than six students, and each group had to select an original research topic after conducting a literature review. Students were guided by the teachers and provided with initial reading materials, as well as an activity rubric specifying the minimum requirements of a scientific paper. The activity evaluation consisted of two parts, a written article (group assessment) and an oral presentation (individual assessment). After the …
