These times demand a fresh approach to education, one that provides learners with the thinking dispositions they need to turn challenges into opportunities, to connect their learning to their passions and emerge from their years of formal education as self-navigating life-long learners. One of our concerns when approaching education, is the need to better recognise the impact that general curriculum and pedagogy have on student wellbeing. In addition to effective and explicit wellbeing programs, we believe that embedding authentic opportunities for local and global citizneship into the curriculum positively affects wellbeing. What role can works of art play in encouraging perspective-taking and exploring issues of global significance? How can thinking routines, developed by Harvard Project Zero, support rich conversations around works of art and global topics? In this interactive workshop, teachers will engage deeply with a work of art, using a combination of discussion and creative writing.
