In order to create a sustainable service model for Digital Scholarship (DS), River Campus Libraries recognized the need to expand staff expertise and advocacy beyond the Digital Scholarship Lab (DSL). The challenge: Training everyone in a way that is both timely and fiscally responsible. The solution: Leveraging costly, intensive professional development opportunities to re-create a modified peer-to-peer learning experience. Racial tension in the academic environment has been prevalent in American society since Brown v. The Board of Education. Racial socialization serves as a practice utilized by Black American parents to provide their children with a cultural orientation as to what it means to be Black in America. This project examines the effects of how recess preparation and reflection can be focused on providing students an opportunity to connect socially and strengthen overall happiness. By investigating the role social satisfaction plays in a child’s life during recess, educators may gain knowledge about how to foster social connectedness for every child. In this session, the authors will share a shift in an understanding of their role. This has led to an emerging model of cascading leadership, in which the leadership process can be developed and passed on from course instructor to graduate students—and ultimately, to the students they teach. Burnout is a psychological condition with physical, emotional, and mental dimensions. Burnout often includes feelings of exhaustion, long-term fatigue, negative self-concept, despair or hopelessness, frustration, and a lack of productivity at work.
Teacher burnout is a well-known and researched field. It has been documented in the literature that teachers experience high levels of stress and emotional exhaustion, which leads to high levels of burnout and professional attrition. This study examined the incidence of burnout in new elementary school teachers and makes recommendations for changes to organizational structure that may reduce professional burnout.
