This geometry curriculum project was designed to be used during a high school summer school credit recovery program. The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), New York State (NYS) Learning Standards for Mathematics, Science, and Technology (MST), and the most recent addition of the Common Core Learning Standards (CCSL) harbor the foundations for each lesson. The curriculum presented will provide teachers with a condensed standards based instrument that can be utilized during a twenty-two day summer school geometry program which contains mathematical content, appropriate rigor, and opportunities for student growth. Women’s accomplishments have often been an undervalued if not forgotten part of the American Civil War. This research project discusses the role of Northern women in the war; not only the expected but also the unexpected roles they performed, some as diverse as nurse, spy, musician, and soldier. In a continuous effort to improve teaching methods, research studies have been conducted to gain understanding with regard to grouping students. Multiple studies confirm that students who are grouped with others of the same ability level will most likely work at similar speeds. This allows educators the opportunity to utilize enrichment or remediation strategies where needed.
