Scholarly sources were reviewed to determine different strategies to teach students with minimizing negative interactions. Errorless learning is a research-based strategy that minimizes errors with few or no responses to the negative stimulus. Time-Delay and prompting are two types of errorless learning techniques examined in this presentation. Time delay is exhibited during activities where a response is required. The duration between the cue and the response can be constant or progressive. Constant time delay has a constant amount of time between cue and response, where progressive time-delay increases duration of time before scaffolding is provided. If no response or an …

Vocabulary is a critical factor in the development of individuals’ ability to convey information. Information on this poster answers the question of ways to effectively implement implicit and explicit research-based teaching strategies. Researchers conducted an online probe consulting several articles discussing explicit strategies: keyword method, word walls, root analysis, and implicit strategies: cloze procedure, context clues and incidental word acquisition. The authors of this poster analyzed the information and divided the larger topic of vocabulary into subtopics. An Analysis Of The Factors That Influence Global Mindedness In First-Year College Students, Kristie Broadbent Guffey

This non-experimental, quantitative descriptive study was designed to determine what factors influence a first-year college students’ global mindedness and if any of those factors were predictors of the five subscales of global mindedness. Surveys were used to measure students’ global mindedness and their type of personality (N=424). Demographic questions were administered that included gender, county population, Pell grant eligibility, and first generation college student. Results indicated that first-year college students at a four-year public Master’s Large institution were moderately global minded. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Kentucky least restrictive environment (LRE) practices and KCCT assessment annual measureable objectives (AMO) in reading and mathematics for students with disabilities. This research was designed to determine whether districts achieved AMO targets for reading, mathematics and LRE. Also, it examined whether a relationship exists between special education students’ placement and assessment scores attained for the with disability subpopulation AYP category.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between teachers’ perceptions of empowerment and principal use of power within career and technical education in Kentucky. The researcher posits that, with the continual process of educational reform, principals need to understand what empowers teachers to perform as additional expectations and responsibilities are being mandated.

The researcher used a mixed methods design to examine power bases that career and technical education teachers perceived were used by their principals to identify teachers’ perceived empowerment, as well as influencers and barriers. Using Dweck's Theory Of Motivation To Determine How A Student's View Of Intelligence Affects Their Overall Academic Achievement, Keely P'Pool

This study explored how student intelligence was directly linked to the goals and motivation held by students when engaged in academic settings. Students were administered a questionnaire developed by Dr. Carol Dweck in which they responded to statements in order to determine their individual theory of intelligence. Once this was accomplished, multiple student variables (including but not limited to first semester GPA, second semester GPA, ACT composite score, age, and college coursework) were compared to their view of intelligence to determine if any correlations existed.

2012 Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) Conference Proceedings In 2010, the ATMAE Management Division set out to define an applicable technology management body of knowledge using a collection of core competencies. The research incorporated existing models, industry opinions, and educator experts. ATMAE members at both the 2010 and 2011 conferences reviewed initial versions of the competency model. In addition, the model was benchmarked against existing literature and research. The researchers found consistency within the initial versions of the competency model. The topic of this poster is planned ignoring. The purpose of this poster was to answer the question of how planned ignoring can be used effectively. Planned ignoring is defined as purposely ignoring an individual who is demonstrating an undesirable behavior. When using planned ignoring, the subject should not be told that planned ignoring is being used. Results of eliminated behavior will not always be revealed immediately. The target behavior may potentially escalate before effective results are demonstrated.
