This purpose of this study was to determine Iowa family and consumer sciences secondary teachers' perceptions of their curriculum resulting from the implementation of the 1989 state legislation regarding vocational education requirements for public secondary schools. A stratified random sample of 152 teachers was selected from a population of 407 family and consumer sciences teachers in grades 9--12 during the 1995--96 school year which yielded a response from 106 (73.6%) teachers;Perceptions were measured to determine the extent the competencies were taught, the level of importance teachers placed on them, and comparisons between the two in the nine content ...

This study used a descriptive and correlational design to examine relationships among selected personal and professional characteristics, professional development experiences, facilitators, and opportunities of South Carolina secondary family and consumer sciences (FCS) secondary school teachers;Two models were developed to suggest various relationships among key variables based on Fullan's (1995) idea about the potential and limits of professional development. A survey was conducted to examine food intake and food attitudes of 285 Korean female students attending a high school in Seoul. Food intake was assessed using a food frequency based on the Korean Food Tower consisting of five food groups, i.e., grain products, vegetables and fruits, meat, milk, and fats and sweets. This study evaluated the effectiveness of Iowa's secondary school family and consumer sciences programs as perceived by students. A two-stage stratified random sampling procedure resulted in usable data from 273 graduating seniors from 98 schools during the 1995-96 school year. The sample was comprised of 135 students (53% males, 47% females) with one semester or less of family and consumer sciences education and 138 students (34% males, 66% females) with three or more semesters of instruction.
