The ever-changing climate of academia has proven to be a significant challenge for educators across disciplines. Administration places great emphasis on student feedback from evaluations to determine if faculty are worthy of being granted tenure and promotion (Kreitzer & Sweet-Cushman.). Although student feedback is critical to measure meaningful learning from the scholars' lens and course revisions, the question remains whether it should be equated to distinguishing an educator's value. The purpose of this study is to explore the perception of scholarship requirements for faculty members teaching in Health Professions Programs (HPP) at a public institution of higher learning located in NYC. This research was guided by the self-determination theory (SDT), which examines how an individual's social interaction can influence different types of motivations. Guided by a central research question and two sub-questions, this study utilized a transcendental phenomenological approach to gain a better understanding of HPP faculty perceptions regarding the requirements for academic scholarship. The academic career path for tenure track faculty in most four-year universities in the United States allows those who earn tenure to make an individual choice about whether to pursue promotion to the rank of full professor. Limited research exists on the intrinsic motivators that individuals possess and draw upon to push past obstacles or challenges they encounter along their academic career journey. This study explored the role of intrinsic motivation in the decision of tenured associate professors to pursue promotion to full professor. This study aimed at developing an instrument to assess faculty collegiality. After reviewing the related literature, and similar tools, an instrument consisted of (29) items distributed into three domains was constructed: (Altruism, 12 items), (Civility, 10 items) and (Courtesy, 7 items). The validity and reliability of the instrument were established by using content validity, Cronbach – Alpha equation, test-retest, and factor analysis. To find the applicability of the instrument, it was reviewed by a panel of ten full professors who have had held university administrative positions. In this mixed-methods study, the researcher set out to identify factors that affect the overall success of students during their first year of high school, thereby directly impacting the graduation rate. In my state when a student enters high school, they are assigned a 9GR (9th grade Graduation) code. This code is determined by looking at the year of the spring semester of the ninth-grade student’s first year of high school, and this represents the year the student should graduate. Women still comprise a small number of full professors in STEM disciplines in research universities, which have historically been male dominated. The National Science Foundation (NSF) has recognized the challenge of getting more women to enter the professoriate, earn tenure, and advance to full professor. Acts of incivility in nursing education and practice settings are a growing concern. Previous research has indicated that uncivil behaviors, especially among nurses in the healthcare workplace, create toxic work environments and pose risks to patient safety. Uncivil behaviors among nurse educators and students were found to erode the learning environment and lead to poor program outcomes. Researchers provided evidence to show varied levels of incivility in academic and workplace environments and recommended solutions to improve civility, yet little evidence exists to show how nurse faculty approach civility promotion in their practices. This policy advocacy document argues for a fair and equitable retention and promotion policy for English language learners (ELLs) in elementary grades of a large urban school district. Increasing access and instructional opportunities within bilingual/ESL services combined with more accurate measures of English proficiency would help mitigate random or unfair promotion and retention practices. A needs analysis was conducted on educational, economic, social, political, and moral-ethical dimensions and arguments made in support of the recommended policy (Browder, 1995). Various efforts of different organizations to promote organic agriculture (OA) were being implemented even before the enactment of Organic Agriculture Act of 2010 in the Philippines. This paper used case studies to document and analyze best practices in OA promotion using a multidimensional approach. The case studies include: a) Provincial Initiative: Organic Village Model in Victorias City, Negros Occidental; b) Municipal Level Experience: Tublay, Benguet’s Program in Promoting and Implementing Organic Agriculture; and c) Private Sector Initiative: The Sta. Organizational leaders know that training improves worker performance, but training is often initiated without considering employees' work task requirements. This instrumental case study was conducted to understand the perceptions of employees who completed a skills training program and those of supervisors. The conceptual framework was andragogy, emphasizing self-efficacy and self-direction, motivation, and goal setting for adult learners. The guiding questions addressed the perceptions of employees about their self-directed participation in the skills training program and its relationship to work tasks and supervisors' perceptions of employees' participation in that program. The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore the lived experiences of African American male faculty at community colleges in the Pacific Northwest. Regional data mirrors national statistics denoting the low number of faculty of color working at state-funded community colleges. The literature reviewed for this study suggests that African American male faculty experience racism and gender bias during their academic career journeys.
