This Open Access book tracks the latest trends in the theory, research, and practice of entertainment-education, the field of communication that incorporates social change messaging into entertaining media. Sometimes called edutainment, social impact television, narrative persuasion, or cultural strategy, this approach to social and behavior change communication offers new opportunities including transmedia and digital formats. However, making media can be a chaotic process. The need for an educational technology manual was researched. Based on research a resource handbook for understanding and using technology in the classroom was in demand. In order to meet the demand for a technology training guide for teachers, a detailed handbook was created. The handbook includes information on the following aspects of educational technology; desktop computers, laptop computers, miniature computing, visual technologies, educational software, accessibility software, the Internet, video technology, and WebQuests. The handbook is intended to be used as a technology resource for teachers K-12 in any State/Country.

Journal of the Minnesota Academy of Science

A comparison is made of the relative learning effectiveness under several instructional methods: a laboratory approach, computer-programmed instruction, and audio-visual teaching, with the traditional lecture method as a control. No significant differences have been recorded relative to the different methods or sex of the students. Some indication of preference among the laboratory and computer groups for those activities is noted, but not sufficiently strong to be considered educationally significant.
