The purpose of this project was to develop a 7th and 8th grade art education curriculum that is grade appropriate and reflective of state and national goals and standards. The National Art Standards and Washington State Standards were reviewed and applied to design an effective curriculum with standards and goals. Art education has experienced major changes in approach to curriculum and instruction due to educational accountability and recently increased educational reforms.

The purpose of this project was to provide a collection of homework activities for kindergarten teachers that are designed to encourage parent involvement and provide additional practice learning kindergarten skills at home. All of the activities align with the Washington State Academic Learning Requirements and Performance Expectations. To complete this collection a review of current and relevant resources was conducted on topics that included the history of homework, the role of homework in kindergarten and the benefits of parent involvement.

There is a shortage of accounting faculty and this shortage is predicted to worsen in the future. The number of new PhDs in accounting has declined from approximately 200 per year in the late 1980' s and early 1990' s to just over I 00 per year in recent years. Currently, we expect approximately 400 to 500 new accounting faculty positions to open up annually over the next to five to ten years. What began fifteen years ago as a volunteer effort to promote desegregation via a gifted and talented magnet school has become a case study analyzing inequalities in the identification of young children for gifted and talented services. We use Cheryl Harris’ (1993) argument that “whiteness” is a form of property that creates and maintains inequalities through the conjoining of race and class. We show how gifted and talented status meets the criteria of white property interests and is defended by recourse to law and policy.
