A Study Of Little Rock School District 1966-1968 Elections And Their Effect On Public School Policy, Ray Earl Garner

OBU Graduate Theses

For many years, the school elections in Little Rock have followed a traditional pattern of meager voter turnout . School elections, prior to the 1967 election, were mentioned briefly in newspaper articles. The platforms were of the same general nature year after year. They included taxes, school expansion, better facilities, and higher teacher salaries. Candidates seldom, if ever, campaigned publicly and actively. Posters were usually placed throughout the city. A few days prior to the election, newspaper ads with the candidates' pictures would appear in the Arkansas Democrat and the Arkansas Gazette. The 1967 school election was significant, because that …

A Survey Of Creative Dramatics, Julie Devecchio Baker

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The little princess was merrily playing in the garden with her ball; tossing it up into the air and bounding it down on the ground. As she played she danced around, humming and singing little snatches of tunes to herself. She was completely unaware of the evil-looking creature creeping up behind her. Suddenly, the evil witch stretched out her arms and, with fingers pointing at the little princess she loosed an evil-sounding yell. The little princess looked up first in amazement and then in horror. Then, she yawned sleepily and fell back on the ground fast asleep. The witch then …

A Program For Children: Creative Dramatics, Patsy Hill Jan 1970

A Program For Children: Creative Dramatics, Patsy Hill

Honors Theses

A child needs beauty and love every bit as much as he needs food and exercise. He needs quiet just as he needs laughter and shouting. He needs to be alone just as he needs to be with others. He needs to work as well as to play. All components of growth are equally important if he is to develop a wholeness of personality. For a child to live is quite a different thing than for him to exist. He needs to be guided in his growing so he reaches for his best. He needs to find his way to …

A Study Of Methods Of Teaching Piano Technique In Arkansas Member Colleges Of The National Association Of Schools Of Music, Laquinta Barnett

OBU Graduate Theses

Within the last two centuries several schools of thought have developed on the subject of piano technique. At the end of the eighteenth century piano teachers stressed finger technique with little use of the arm. During the nineteenth century pianists began to use the weight of the arm more in the production of piano tone. In the early 1900s a controversy developed between the advocates of freedom of arms and hands and the more conventional muscular approach.

The purpose of this study was to investigate current methods of teaching piano technique in N. A. S. M. college in Arkansas. Twenty …
