The research questions addressed in this capstone are how does one prepare an effective proposal for restoring a natural ecosystem, and what are the benefits of the close proximity of natural habitats to students and other stakeholders? The author compiles research examining the positive aspects of having restored environments on the school campus. The author found that benefits of habitat restorations extend beyond only affecting the students, and reach out to the teachers, groundskeepers, district, the environment, and local community. The Controversial Passage Of Proposition 227, Erin E. Kinney

When Proposition 227 passed in 1998, it essentially ended a thirty-year program of bilingual education in California of students with limited English proficiency, and replaced it with a controversial, year-long, intensive English-immersion program. Paying close attention to how each side of the debate was framed in televised programming and local newspapers, this paper examines why such a controversial law was able to pass by popular ballot.
