Milo A. Rediger Retirement Scrapbook (1975), Taylor University

This scrapbook was presented to Milo A. Rediger on the occasion of his retirement from Taylor University and taking on the role of Chancellor. Various friends and acquaintances wrote letters to Rediger, congratulating him on his 32 years of service to the university. This scrapbook features those letters, as well as programs and photographs related to Rediger's service to Taylor University.

Student scrapbook, covering the years 1938 through 1940. The most commonly photographed person appears to be Gwendolyn Ruth Niebel, and it is most probable the scrapbook belonged to her. She was a student from 1937-1940 and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Education. Her hometown was Dunkirk, New York. She was an active part of the Cheerleading Team, belonged to the Philalethean Literary Society, Mnanka Debate Club, Vesper Choir, and Education Club.

Scrapbook of clippings from various Taylor University publications and other unknown publications. From the order of the clippings it appears the book was assembled starting in 1937 and ending in 1941. Clippings date from 1909 through 1941. Due to the nature of materials gathered it appears that the creator of the scrapbook had a fondness for poetry and cared deeply about Taylor’s history and missionary work.

A scrapbook of photographs from the 1934-1935 academic year at Taylor University. There are no formal photographs, they are mostly from student activities and events including Youth Conference and Abraham Lincoln's birthday celebration, as well as pictures from around campus.

The album is not dated, however, photographs all match the 1934-1935 academic year and events detailed in the 1935 Gem.

The images appear to be from various eras, but are probably 1930 or later due to the presence of Maytag Gymnasium. The creator of the scrapbook is unknown.

Scrapbook made by Taylor University Student Lucille M. Jones during 1928 through her senior year in 1930. It is a themed scrapbook, formatted under the title “Friendship Memories of School Days” and contains various sections dedicated to specific parts of the academic experience. The scrapbook contains various clippings from Taylor University Publications as well as various mementos and souvenirs taken from campus events. The presenters of the gift include: Clair J. Snell, Gertrude Wamsley, Wayne York, Melvina Gleason, Robert Clark, Iva Hawkins, Hazel Chamberlain, Gertrude Jackson, Lila Hardenbrook, Edna Callahan, Marcius Taber, and Deane Irish.

Scrapbook by unknown author features mostly photos from the 1926 yearbook. Unlike other scrapbooks these are photographs rather than clippings from University publications. It does not contain all the yearbook’s photos, but was probably assembled by someone who worked with the yearbook or had access to the negatives.

One formal photograph (with people seated) appears to be a fraction of the Expression department. Perhaps related to English.

“This book was given to Taylor University Archives by Ross J. Mc Lennan, a Taylor graduate who had been in Dr. George Evan’s classes. Dr. George Evans is the father of Dr. Harlowe Evans, who taught at Taylor and also served on the Board of Trustees.” -acquisition note

He may have assembled the photos from various years previous to his time as a student, though it is more probable that a student at the time assembled the pages. There are no names or labels on any of the pictures.

Probably compiled by faculty, staff, or a spouse of one, it focuses primarily on senior performances, commencement, oratorical and vocal contests, and expression, theatre, and music related performances.
