Leadership Intern positions in Vocational Education were funded in the State of Illinois for the 1980-81 fiscal year. Eastern Illinois University provided the base of experiential and formal learning for one of the Intern positions in the Occupational Education office under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

During the fiscal year of July 1, 1980, to June 30, 1981, the Intern based at Eastern was admitted to and enrolled in the Specialist degree program in Educational Administration earning a total of twenty-two semester hours. This field experience is a portion of that degree program.

The decision regarding student housing is one which will affect every school board and administrator. Decisions made by the people involved will affect the community for generations. Making economically feasible and educationally sound decisions regarding student housing is most difficult, especially when one considers many of the variables involved with decisions of this type. Graduate students identified as high interactors and faculty members teaching graduate level courses participated in a questionnaire and interview study designed to expand on the existing operational definitions of student-faculty informal contact as a research variable. Statistically significant differences were found between student and faculty subjects on items concerning who defined the relationships, accessibility, and advisement. Student and faculty subjects were in agreement on a range of items concerning initiation of contact, degree of impact, context of interaction, and amount of informality. At Central High School in Clifton, Illinois, students are required to take one of three Junior English classes in order to graduate. These classes are: American Fiction, American Literature Survey, and Modern American Literature. Many times, students would ask their counselor "What are my chances of passing the three different Required Junior English classes?". The counselors would only be able to give a personal opinion that was based on Sophomore English grades and not a substantiated answer.
