Leadership Intern positions in Vocational Education were funded in the State of Illinois for the 1980-81 fiscal year. Eastern Illinois University provided the base of experiential and formal learning for one of the Intern positions in the Occupational Education office under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

During the fiscal year of July 1, 1980, to June 30, 1981, the Intern based at Eastern was admitted to and enrolled in the Specialist degree program in Educational Administration earning a total of twenty-two semester hours. This field experience is a portion of that degree program.

In August, 1980, the administrative staff in cooperation with Eastern Illinois University Department of School Service Personnel developed a position of administrative assistant-gifted coordinator. Differentiated curricula for gifted and talented students are necessities for any school district which purports to serve the educational needs of all of its student population. During the 1980-81 school year, the Mt. Zion School District, Mt. Zion, Illinois, conducted a thorough investigation and began a total revision of its district-wide gifted program. The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between anxiety and level of aspiration among college physical education male students.

Thirty-one male physical education students, enrolled in the professional physical education classes at Eastern Illinois University, served as volunteers for the study.

Each subject completed a 40 item Anxiety Scale Questionnaire (ASQ), designed by the Institute for Personality and Anxiety Testing (IPAT), for measurement of anxiety level. The level of aspiration (Loa) scores were obtained from each subject's estimations of scores and performances on the grip strength tests administered.
