Programmed Instruction From The Instructor's Viewpoint, Michael D. Stoll Jan 1977

Programmed Instruction From The Instructor's Viewpoint, Michael D. Stoll

Masters Theses

The role of the instructor is, and always will be, a critical one. Until now, though, mediating a course to a self-paced, programmed learning environment frequently has neglected the fact that the instructor will have to alter teaching methods to a great extent in order to cope with the new situation. Further, without a thorough understanding of the role to be played out, the instructor could actually destroy even the best of courses.

This report studies the changeover of United States Air Force technical training course 3ABR25130 Weather Specialist from group-lock step to self-paced programmed learning. A background of both …

Transfer Of Serial Position Effect To Paired-Associate Learning, James Lloyd Beckles

Masters Theses

The experiment was designed to evaluate the role of position in serial learning. In the position learning task, subjects learned two serial lists presented alternately, then learned a subsequent paired associate list consisting of items of the previously learned serial list. The paired associate list contained three types of pairs; the same position-same pair, different position-same pair, and different position-different pair. The findings of the experiment supported the position hypothesis that if position is the cue for the recall of the item in a serial list, then, a subsequent paired associate list that is made up of the two previously …
