Although organisational effectiveness is central to organisational theory and practice, researchers continue to debate its meaning. In measurement terms, there is no generally agreed operational definition of organisational effectiveness. However, a Competing Values Framework or Model (Quinn & Rohrbaugh 1981,1983) has been proposed as “a general paradigm of organisational effectiveness" (1 981, p.139) yet the applicability of the Model to higher educational organisations has never been tested. In the business and corporate world, there exists a unique collection of proven decision-making tools, techniques, and management ideas. There is, however, no clear definition and empirical analysis relative to the nature of the relationships among internal/external variables as they influence decision-making in the research university provosts' roles and functions. A Survey Of Qualifications And Job Activities Of Employees Responsible For Space Analysis In Public Four Year Institutions Of Higher Education, Duane Marvin Skeen

This paper presents the results of a national survey of 342 four year public institutions of higher education. The survey was conducted by questionnaire. Its purpose was to determine the administrative level, educational background, and major job responsibilities of persons performing analysis of physical facility needs in colleges and universities. The survey revealed that 115 (46. 18 percent) of 249 responding institutions had such an employee. The most frequently reported job title was Campus Planner, and Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Education were the most common undergraduate majors.
